In 2014, humanity made a desperate attempt to tackle climate change through a method known as stratospheric aerosol injection. Unfortunately, the plan backfires dramatically, resulting in an unprecedented new ice age that devastates the planet and leads to a severe decline in life on Earth.

Seventeen years pass, and the remnants of humanity find refuge aboard the revolutionary self-sustaining train, the Snowpiercer, owned by the enigmatic mogul, Wilford. The train's design creates a harsh divide; the wealthy reside in luxurious front cars while the impoverished tail passengers live in appalling conditions under the watchful eyes of armed guards.

Curtis Everett, inspired by his mentor Gilliam, and his friend Edgar spearhead a rebellion among the tail passengers against cruel treatment. The group decides to liberate security expert Namgoong Minsoo, believing his skills can turn the tide in their favor.

To entice Namgoong's cooperation, Curtis and Edgar offer him Kronole, an addictive drug. Namgoong insists that his daughter Yona be freed as well, highlighting the lengths they will go to secure their freedom from the oppressive system on the train.

As the rebellion unfolds, the group encounters armed guards led by Minister Mason. In a heart-wrenching moment, Curtis is compelled to sacrifice Edgar, who is taken hostage, ensuring that they can continue their fight against the brutal regime.

With Mason as their captive, Curtis and the rebels continue through the train's lavish cars. Namgoong and Yona spot an outside landmark, providing a glimmer of hope about the possibility of a thawed world outside their confined reality.

The situation escalates when a bald man infiltrates the rebel ranks, launching a deadly attack disguised as a celebration. This unexpected betrayal leads to the tragic death of many rebels, turning the tide against Curtis's uprising.

In a devastating confrontation, the henchman Franco executes Gilliam, a significant loss for Curtis and the rebel faction. This act of brutality prompts Curtis to take drastic action, further intensifying the conflict within the train.

In a shocking moment, Yona demands a match, revealing the tragic consequences of their struggles. The discovery of Tanya's son, Timmy, working in the engine serves as a grim reminder of the cost of their fight for survival.

The chaos escalates as Curtis and Franco engage in a desperate struggle. In a swift decision, Curtis hands Yona the match to ignite the explosive, marking the beginning of their final battle against oppression within the train.

As the explosive ignites, the train meets a catastrophic fate, derailing due to an avalanche. This catastrophic event leads to the destruction of their confined world and the end of the train's journey.

In the aftermath of the wreckage, Yona and Timmy emerge from the chaos, confronting the new reality. They are met with a breathtaking sight of a polar bear, symbolizing the return of life outside the train and the possibility of a new beginning.
