Unexpectedly, all Air and Toxic Slugs in Slugterra are transformed into incurable Ghouls. This shocking event throws the Shane Gang into chaos as they grapple with the implications of this new threat.

The Shane Gang is ambushed by the Shadow Clan, who captures them and transports them to their lair. Trapped in a dark setting, the gang realizes they must devise a plan to escape and regain control.

Eli encounters an Enigmo Slug within the lair, revealing a holographic message from Will Shane. This message discloses the dangers that arise following Will's demise and the Shadow Clan's mission regarding Eli.

The message unveils the ancient lore of Slugterra, detailing the five fundamental Elemental Slugs—Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, and Energy. The corruption affecting these slugs poses a critical threat to all descendants, including Toxic Slugs.

With the stakes elevated, Eli must retrieve and activate the five de-ghouled Elemental Slugs to heal Slugterra. The first focus shifts to rescuing the Water Slug, as the gang learns about the environmental devastation caused by the Ghouls.

After the Water Elemental is compromised, the Shane Gang pursues the Earth Elemental. During a perilous encounter in treacherous muck, they are nearly defeated, but the Earth Elemental intervenes and saves them.
