Lina Inverse Megumi Hayashibara and Naga the Serpent Maria Kawamura are two young sorceresses who roam the world in search of adventure and quick money, trading barbs and sharp witticisms as they travel. Their restless journey changes course when they meet a girl named Saleena Akiko Hiramatsu, who seems like a random victim of their latest petty food fight that ended with a powerful spell explosion. The truth, however, is darker: Saleena has been wounded since fleeing her village of Biaz, where the evil organization Zein enslaved the population. The usually selfish Lina [Megumi Hayashibara] conceives a rare glimmer of sympathy and agrees to help, spurred by rumors of an ancient elven treasure forged from orihalcon, a nearly indestructible magical metal, and she hopes to lay her hands on it. The equally greedy Naga [Maria Kawamura] decides to follow, driven by the lure of wealth and power.
In Biaz, the two press the village chief for a reward, but neither he nor Selena’s Father [Akio Otsuka] can offer enough. Naga seizes and wears an orihalcon bracelet she finds there. Lina and Naga press on to defeat Zein’s megalomaniac leader Galev [Kenji Utsumi], only to discover that his wizard powers are largely a bluff and that his organization currently consists of just himself and his sole underling Zahhard [Kazuki Yao]. The girls and Saleena confront Galev’s arriving collection of henchmen, including Becker [Chafurin], but their real target is Galev himself, who never paid their promised salary. Galev’s plan is to seize a long-lost legendary superweapon described in an old magic book and, if he can possess it, conquer and rule the world.
When the weapon is unearthed, what Lina expected to be immense treasure turns out to be a massive golem made wholly of orihalcon. Naga’s bracelet is its control device, but she cannot wield it properly or remove it. The golem attacks them all, and a chase and running battle ensue as everyone joins the effort to defeat the golem and the mini-golems it spawns. To stop the crazed construct, Lina asks Naga to create one of her own golems and surround it with a barrier, so Lina can cast a destructive Dragon Slave spell and send the second golem straight into the first, destroying it but ruining all the orihalcon in the process. The film ends with the girls and the people of Biaz pursuing Galev, because not only did he steal money from them and waste it on extravagant costumes for his organization, but now the chief cannot pay Lina and Naga for their trouble.
