Siege of the Saxons

Edmund sought to marry Katherine to legitimize his claim to the throne. By marrying the king's daughter, he would have a hereditary right to rule Camelot, making his usurpation appear lawful rather than purely treacherous.

King Arthur was slain by Edmund of Cornwall's own soldiers, who were part of the conspiracy to seize the throne. Edmund orchestrated the assassination while plotting to marry Katherine and claim the crown for himself.
