A group of Indian Army soldiers cordons off a village during a counter-insurgency operation in the Punj Area of Pulwama District, Kashmir Valley. After a tense chase, an army officer is shot by a colleague who reluctantly surrenders and is taken into custody.

In New Delhi, Major Siddhant Chaudhary and Major Akash Kapoor are introduced as best friends with contrasting personalities. Sid is restless and longs for adventure, while Akash is a disciplined, dedicated army lawyer.

At Akash’s wedding, Siddhant stands as his best man and witnesses the beginning of two intertwined lives. After the ceremony, Akash suggests they should be posted together and asks the Army HQ to arrange the same posting.

A week before departure to Srinagar, Siddhant learns he will be a defence lawyer while Akash becomes the prosecuting lawyer in a murder case involving two Rashtriya Rifles officers. Siddhant’s hopes for a tension-free tenure begin to crumble.

Srinagar-based journalist Kavya Shastri discovers the murder case and identifies Captain Javed Khan and Major Virendra Singh Rathore as the officers involved. She notes the incident occurred during a counter-insurgency operation and that Rathore was killed while Javed faces charges of insubordination and murder.

In Srinagar, the CO briefs Akash and Siddhant on the case. Siddhant then goes to the barracks to meet Javed, but the latter maintains a stoic silence and refuses to engage.

Kavya tries to interview Javed but is refused; she later publishes a slanderous article about Brigadier Pratap in a local daily, naming Siddhant as the source. The piece provokes embarrassment for the Army and leads to reprimands for Siddhant.

Siddhant seeks an audience with Brigadier Pratap at a forward area near the LOC; Pratap’s jovial mood masks his reluctance to share information. He eventually allows Siddhant access to the crime scene for closer inspection.

That evening, Siddhant and Kavya exchange information and Kavya provides crucial documents. Siddhant resolves to study the case thoroughly and begins considering the possibility of Javed’s innocence.

On the day of the prosecution, Siddhant defies Akash’s advice and publicly declares Javed not guilty. The move shocks many, including Javed, and strains Siddhant’s friendship with Akash.

With renewed resolve, Javed begins to open up and provides documents supporting his innocence. Kavya visits Rathore’s widow Neerja to gather more context, and Siddhant and Kavya plan how to counter the prosecution.

Kavya uncovers evidence of human rights abuses by Brigadier Pratap and Major Rathore. She shares the findings with Siddhant, but is arrested for trespassing, and Siddhant struggles to secure her release.

Captain R. P. Singh resurfaces and reveals that Major Rathore was the guilty party, while Javed was innocent. Before he can testify fully, Singh is carjacked by a masked assailant who later is revealed to be Singh himself, and he kills himself.

In a dramatic courtroom turn, Siddhant uses a memory-quiz tactic to force Brigadier Pratap to confront his past. He reveals Pratap’s lie and exposes the brutality used in the case, shifting the trial’s momentum.

The Army Court exonerates Javed, restores his rank and honours, and simultaneously orders an inquiry into Brigadier Pratap’s conduct. The case closes with justice for Javed and accountability for Pratap.
