Sea Fever

Captain of the Niamh Cinn Óir, Freya is driven by the need to protect her crew while mourning their daughter. Her decisive leadership is tested by Gerard's reckless choice to enter the exclusion zone and by escalating threats aboard the ship. She must navigate loyalty, guilt, and the practical demands of survival, making hard calls under pressure.

Gerard is Freya's husband and the ship's skipper, consumed by grief after their daughter's death. He overrules orders to chase a larger catch in the exclusion zone, pushing the crew toward danger. As fear and desperation mount, his grip on reality slips, leading to a fatal decision and irreversible consequences.

Siobhán is a PhD student studying deep-sea fauna, armed with diving gear and scientific curiosity. She becomes a critical observer of the outbreak, uses evidence to guide decisions, and forms a tentative bond with Johnny. Her methods contrast with the crew's pragmatism as infection spreads.

Omid is the ship's engineer, the technical mind on board who helps stabilize the vessel and later assists in improvising defenses against the infection. He remains practical and calm under pressure while supporting the others through the crisis.

Johnny is a lively crew member who flirts with Siobhán and brings humor to the tense voyage. He is among the first to fall ill, his infection revealing the severity of the threat and ending in tragedy.

Ciara is a crew member who becomes entangled in the crisis and ultimately dies during the attempt to stop Siobhán, highlighting the ship's escalating danger and the cost of fear-driven actions.

Sudi is a crew member onboard who also succumbs to the infection as it spreads through the water system, embodying the unpredictability and peril of oceanic isolation.
