Scream for Help

Christie Cromwell, living in New Rochelle, learns that her stepfather Paul Fox is attempting to murder her and her mother for their money. She tries to tell others about the danger, but no one believes her. The suspicion tightens as she watches Paul behave suspiciously around the house.

A maintenance worker dies in the basement, and Christie suspects Paul set the trap for her mother after seeing him leave the basement the previous night. The incident heightens her fear that the house itself is the instrument of danger. She vows to uncover the truth despite the lack of proof.

Christie begins following Paul around town and discovers he is having an affair with Brenda Bohle. The discovery adds a dangerous complication to the plot, blurring lines between motive and manipulation. She feels every step closer to the truth could put her in greater danger.

Brenda's brother Lacey catches Christie spying on them, but Christie manages to escape. The encounter makes Christie worry that Brenda and Lacey are part of a larger scheme involving Paul. The danger now feels more personal and immediate.

Paul convinces Karen that Brenda is merely a client of his and not involved with Christie. Karen believes him and dismisses her daughter's warnings. Christie feels isolated, trapped by the very people who should protect her.

Christie convinces Josh Dealey to accompany her to catch Paul. They discover the brakes on Karen's car have been tampered with, almost killing them. The failed attempt confirms that Paul is actively trying to harm them.

Christie and Janey Ralston track Paul and Brenda to a motel and confront them, but run when Paul spots them. Soon after, Janey is killed in a hit-and-run by an unseen driver. The tragedy deepens Christie's resolve to expose Paul.

Christie tells the police that Paul killed Janey, but they do not believe her. Josh sticks up for Christie after she is blamed. The legal system seems slow as danger looms closer.

Christie and Josh become intimate, but Paul interrupts and orders Josh to leave. In the bathroom, Christie discovers gas and realizes Paul is also trying to kill her. Karen meanwhile is knocked down the stairs by a trap, ending up in a wheelchair.

Christie photographs Paul and Brenda having sex but drops the picture. She later overhears Brenda and Lacey are secretly married and planning to blackmail Paul after he kills Karen and Christie. The revelation intensifies the danger in their house.

At midnight, Paul, Brenda, and Lacey invade the house and force Christie and Karen to the basement, revealing their plan to kill them both at 2 a.m. and blame it on a burglar. Christie realizes Brenda and Lacey want to push Paul to murder and cover it up.

Christie tricks Brenda into leaving to use the bathroom while Karen cuts the electricity, giving Christie a chance to flee. She then uses the moment to confront Lacey and Paul and stab them both. The attackers' control over the house begins to crumble.

The lights come back, Brenda is electrocuted by the wet fuse box, and Lacey races to the basement to find her body. Christie and Karen seize their chance to escape while the danger around them intensifies. The house erupts into chaos as the survivors scramble for safety.

Paul, drawn by a gas-filled bathroom, enters with a lighter and is killed in an explosion. Josh arrives just in time to rescue Christie from the burning house. The immediate threat to Christie ends with Paul’s death.

With the danger over, Christie and Karen relocate to a new house for safety. Josh comes to visit Christie, but Lacey appears, knocks Josh out, and reveals his intent to kill Christie for Brenda's death. Christie then stabs Lacey, ending the threat once and for all.
