Sasquatch Sunset

A family of four Sasquatches begins their journey through the untamed wilderness of Northern California. They navigate their surroundings, foraging for food and engaging in mystical rituals, hoping to connect with others of their kind using their branch drums.

As spring approaches, the alpha male's attempts to mate with the female are continually rejected, leading to frustration and anger. In a moment of misguided desperation, he steals a vital beam from their shelter, attempting to find comfort in a connection with this inanimate object.

The alpha's actions spark a confrontation with his family, resulting in his exclusion from the group. This rejection intensifies his despair, culminating in an accident where he ingests a poisonous mushroom, leaving him incapacitated.

In a delusional state after consuming the mushroom, the alpha attempts to connect with a mountain lion. Tragically, the following day, he meets his demise, leaving his family to confront the sorrow of losing their leader.

The remaining Sasquatches perform a solemn burial for their fallen alpha, grappling with their deep sense of loss. This moment marks a significant emotional turning point for the family as they navigate their grief.

As summer arrives, the female Sasquatch's pregnancy becomes evident, stirring primitive urges in the lone male. Despite his various attempts at mating rituals, she continues to reject him, leading to escalating tension within the group.

While journeying through the wilderness, the family stumbles upon marked trees and roads, triggering instinctual caution. They leave their own markings to signify their presence and avoid potential dangers.

The family's journey takes a dire turn when they encounter a floating log. In a reckless decision, the lone male climbs onto it, only to meet a watery fate, leaving the family in heartbreaking despair as they witness his drowning.

With fall's arrival, the female and her child invade a nearby human campsite, acting out their pent-up emotions by vandalizing the area. The tension peaks as a frisbee thrown by the child triggers a dramatic upheaval around them.

During the chaos at the campsite, the female Sasquatch unexpectedly goes into labor. In the midst of this turmoil, she gives birth to a new baby, whose placenta serves as a protective diversion against a prowling mountain lion.

As winter sets in, the family faces harsh survival challenges, resorting to stealing a penned chicken while evading traps set by humans. Their struggles intensify when the baby nearly suffocates in sleep, but the vigilant mother manages to save them.

Their arduous journey leads them to Willow Creek, where they come face to face with the poignant reality of a forest fire and the remnants of clear-cutting that scar their home. This encounter deepens their understanding of the destruction surrounding them.

As the family traverses the altered landscape, they approach a local museum which features a Sasquatch statue. This encounter reflects their far-reaching desires and serves as a haunting reminder of their lost heritage amidst the devastation of their home.
