Sawyer Scott, a senior preparing for an important interview, recognizes the need to avoid difficult questions from her family during Thanksgiving. As a means to dodge uncomfortable conversations, she discreetly sets off on her journey to Washington D.C. without informing her family.

While navigating heavy traffic on I-64, Sawyer's reliance on her GPS leads her astray into the Appalachian wilderness. This detour results in her finding herself stranded on a dead-end road, far from her intended destination.

On her dead-end road, Sawyer encounters two brothers, Buck and Hollister, who are engaged in burying a body. Initially friendly, the brothers offer her help, but the atmosphere quickly becomes sinister as their intentions remain unclear.

After declining an invitation for dinner from Buck and Hollister, tension mounts, resulting in a violent confrontation. Buck ends up injuring both himself and Sawyer with his knife, escalating the turmoil of the moment.

With night closing in, Buck and Hollister leave Sawyer alone and injured in a ravine, deepening her sense of isolation and confusion. Stranded and disoriented, Sawyer grapples with her dire circumstances.

As local authorities investigate Sawyer's disappearance, Sheriff O'Doyle begins questioning Buck and Hollister. The brothers' deception prevents the sheriff from discovering the truth, as they convincingly deny their involvement in her case.

In a desperate attempt to survive, Sawyer traverses the wilderness, eventually locating her wrecked car and her nearly dead phone. With her signal nonexistent, she feels the weight of hopelessness amid hunger and dehydration.

In a twist of fate, Sawyer encounters Lowell, a cousin of Buck and Hollister, who finds her weakened and offers some relief with food and water. However, their brief respite is disrupted when Sawyer attempts to escape, throwing lye at him.

When Buck and Hollister return to discuss their meth operation, tensions rise. Lowell, positioned as Sawyer's reluctant ally, reveals to her that he genuinely intends to help her, countering her fears about being held captive.

Deputy Katz works tirelessly under Sheriff O'Doyle's directives to control the investigation into Sawyer's disappearance. With the arrival of Commander Slattery, he grows increasingly concerned about O'Doyle's involvement in the drug operation.

As pressure mounts, Sheriff O'Doyle attempts to sabotage the investigation while directing the brothers to find Sawyer. His duplicity begins to unravel as Katz confronts him about his conflicting interests in the operation.

A tragic turn occurs when Katz tries to confront O'Doyle, resulting in Katz's untimely demise at the sheriff's hands. O'Doyle moves swiftly to fabricate evidence that shifts responsibility away from himself.

The situation escalates dramatically when an explosion rocks Lowell's trailer, caused by a microwave malfunction. This disaster kills Buck and injures Lowell, leaving Hollister reeling in the aftermath.

In the chaos following the explosion, Sawyer seizes the opportunity to flee from the disaster. However, she finds herself in a violent confrontation with Lowell, who she initially saw as a potential ally.

As Sheriff O'Doyle arrives on the scene, he turns lethal, eliminating the remaining threat. In a climactic struggle, Sawyer fights back and stabs O'Doyle, making her escape just as state police vehicles approach to rescue her.
