Rudhran

Rudhran Raghava Lawrence is an IT professional who leads a quiet, ordinary life in Chennai with his parents, Devaraj Nassar and Indhira Poornima Bhagyaraj. He falls in love with Ananya Priya Bhavani Shankar, a lab technician who soon returns his feelings, and the couple makes plans for a life together. Devaraj, who runs a transport agency, helps his friend Das secure a large loan from a moneylender named Ethiraj A. Venkatesh. But Das betrays them, absconding with the loan, and Devaraj dies of the shock when he learns the truth. This betrayal shapes Rudhran’s path, setting up a painful chain of events that will drive his actions in the years to come.

After Rudhran and Ananya marry, he travels to London to sort out the financial mess and secure a stable future for his young family. Ananya becomes pregnant and gives birth to a daughter named Anya. The new family spends time together in London, but Rudhran ultimately returns to Chennai to see to matters back home, asking Ananya to focus on their life together and visit his mother. The bond between Rudhran and his family remains a steady anchor, even as dark forces begin to close in.

Tragedy strikes anew when Indhira dies suddenly and Ananya disappears without a trace. Rudhran returns to Chennai and steps into the role of a devoted son and husband who must uncover the truth behind these losses. He teams up with Shakthi Kaali Venkat to investigate, tracing a path that leads to a brutal motorcycle gang. A cab driver, who had picked up Ananya at the airport, becomes a critical piece of the mystery before he is killed by the gang. Rudhran’s pursuit of answers intensifies as he captures one gang member and tracks the leader, Varadha [Sharath Lohitashwa], whom he had encountered at Indhira’s funeral and who now seems central to the conspiracy.

The film then delves into a past thread, revealing a brutal criminal scheme from 2007. Varadha and Bhoominathan [R. Sarathkumar] have built a crime network that preys on families of abroad-settled children. They inject a serum into parents that triggers heart attacks and then steal their land and properties by forging fingerprints. With a high-stakes ₹100-crore business deal looming, Bhoominathan targets Indhira’s home, and the two criminals secretly enter her house, where Indhira is killed in a staged assault. The present unraveling shows Rudhran discovering this long-buried crime and his seething anger turning into a violent crusade.

In the present, Rudhran’s fury boils over as he impales Varadha, but Bhoominathan arrives with his henchmen to strike back. Guna, Bhoominathan’s trusted aide, hangs Shakthi [Kaali Venkat] in a brutal ambush, and Bhoominathan stabs Rudhran, even setting a fire that destroys a factory. A constable, Narasimhan, arrives in time to save Rudhran, but the damage has already reshaped his life. Grief and rage fuse into a singular purpose as Rudhran begins a ruthless campaign against those who harmed his family. He eliminates Sasi at a container depot and later kills Guna at an under-construction building, leaving Bhoominathan as his ultimate target.

Bhoominathan attempts one last gambit by ordering Maari [Ajay Ghosh] to kill Rudhran and Ananya during a festival at Tirukalukundram. Rudhran fights back and defeats Maari and his men, reclaiming some sense of justice, but the confrontation with Bhoominathan is far from over. The final showdown unfolds at the Kala Bairavaa temple, where Rudhran and Bhoominathan wage an intense battle, destroying Bhoominathan’s defenses and severing his gang’s grip on the city. Rudhran uses the very serum Bhoominathan once deployed to murder parents, injecting it into Bhoominathan and exacting a brutal personal revenge that closes the chapter on this blood-soaked feud.

Years pass, and Rudhran channels his grief into a more enduring mission. He runs a charitable trust in Indhira’s name, channeling resources to help others while quietly tracking down Das in Madurai to settle the old score. The film ends with Rudhran enforcing his version of justice, a grim reminder that the scars of the past can fuel a future built on responsibility and retribution alike—yet it leaves room for another chapter, a sequel that would continue Rudhran’s vigilant stand against those who destroyed his peace.
