Ravi Shankar, Ravi Krishna, and Sandhya, Anita Hassanandani Reddy, are college students in Dindigul who share a tender, ambitious love. Sandhya faces a troubling home life when her uncle’s inappropriate attention casts a shadow over her days. She confides in her malevolent stepmother, and the family dynamics quickly grow tangled as the couple clings to the belief that they will someday marry. Despite the danger, Sandhya and Ravi vow to build a life together, holding onto hope even as the world seems set against them.
When Sandhya’s stepmother learns of the affair, she meddles with increasing audacity. Ravi’s caring father steps in, sending the couple to Chennai for safety, hoping to give them a fresh start. But tragedy follows quickly: during a tense phone check-in, Ravi’s father is killed by Sandhya’s stepmother, turning protection into a shocking act of violence and leaving Ravi and Sandhya to face a harsher reality.
A corrupt police officer named ACP Mahesh, Sriman, falsely accuses Ravi of murdering his own father, driven by aManipulative setup based on a complaint from Sandhya’s stepmother. Ravi is thrown behind bars, while Sandhya seeks relief through the judicial system. She approaches Judge Needhi Manikkam, Rajan P Dev, who initially wields his power for leverage rather than justice, coercing Sandhya into a compromising demand and forcing her to act against her will. The confrontation marks the collapse of trust in the system as Sandhya is subjected to abuse.
In a moment of brutal irony, Sandhya is taken to a palace where she endures a grave violation at the hands of Mahesh, Manikkam, and Tamil Kumaran, the minister’s son. Amid this horror, an honest police officer manages to release Ravi, enabling him to race toward Sandhya and intervene. The pursuit culminates in a chaotic confrontation where Needhi Manikkam’s henchmen beat Ravi and he is thrown into the gallows, leaving him unconscious as Sandhya is also rendered unconscious by the trauma.
The story then shifts to a glimmer of hope. Sandhya, overwhelmed by pain, contemplates suicide, while Ravi—already bereaved of his parents—chooses to face the darkest chapter with her, seeking to stay together even in death or life beyond. At this crossroads, a criminal lawyer named Sukran, Vijay, arrives on the beach, offering a philosophy of resilience. He inspires them to value life and to pursue a new start, urging them to secure work, build a life, marry, and find happiness again, even after the most harrowing losses. Guided by Sukran’s counsel, the couple forges a fresh path: they find jobs, accumulate resources, marry, and move into a modest home, attempting to reclaim normalcy and hope.
Yet the past is not easily erased. Sandhya suffers renewed harassment when Mahesh, Manikkam, and Kumaran again target her, and she is arrested on charges of prostitution. Ravi fights to secure bail but faces an uphill battle in court. In a dramatic turn, the rumor of violence swirls as Ravi is believed to have shot Mahesh, Manikkam, Kumaran, and Sandhya’s stepmother, escaping with Sandhya from the courtroom and into an uncertain future.
Sukran returns with a final push for justice, presenting the necessary evidence to bring the case toward resolution. He makes a stark demand to the court: Minister Janardhanan should face ultimate, public punishment, a naked hanging at Marina Beach in front of a vast crowd, with the corpse then exposed to the elements as a symbol of accountability for his many wrongdoings. The judge objects, citing limits of jurisdiction and due process. Disillusioned but undeterred, Sukran chooses to take the law into his own hands, killing Janardhanan. He then surrenders to the police, explaining that while Janardhanan was corrupt, murder in front of the court is not justice and harming the system is not a solution.
Throughout, the film wrestles with themes of love under pressure, the abuse of power, the pursuit of justice, and the fragile line between lawful remedy and vigilante action. The characters navigate a web of personal loyalties, systemic corruption, and the enduring belief that even in the darkest circumstances, life and love can be rekindled, even if the path forward is fraught with moral complexity.
