Rosario 'Rose' Fuentes, a successful Wall Street stockbroker, learns that her estranged grandmother Griselda has suddenly passed away. Despite a snowstorm approaching, she decides to return to her grandmother's apartment in New York City. She prepares to sort through her grandmother's belongings upon arrival.

Rosario arrives at the apartment amid the worsening snowstorm. The building superintendent, Marty, informs her that emergency services are delayed due to the storm. Rosario is left alone in the apartment with her grandmother's body, feeling a mix of grief and unease.

As the night unfolds, Rosario starts experiencing strange and unsettling phenomena. She notices inexplicable noises and movements, indicating that something supernatural is present in the apartment. Her sense of security is increasingly compromised.

Rosario discovers a concealed chamber filled with occult items, including Palo spell books, voodoo dolls, a human skull, and animal skeletons. These artifacts reveal Griselda’s practice of Palo, blending African spiritualism with Catholic traditions. She learns her grandmother was involved in dark rituals.

Rosario uncovers evidence that her grandmother performed daily blood sacrifices as part of her spiritual practices. She suspects that Griselda was trying to curse her, leading Rosario to attempt a ritual to break the curse. Her efforts, however, prove ineffective against the supernatural forces.

Supernatural occurrences intensify as Rosario experiences vivid visions of her mother, Elena, appearing as a decaying corpse. These disturbing visions highlight the malevolent influence of the spirits involved and heighten her fear and confusion.

After speaking with neighbor Joe, Rosario discovers that her grandmother had made a pact with the evil spirit Kobayende to protect her. She realizes that Griselda’s rituals were meant to hold the spirit at bay and safeguard Rosario from harm.

Rosario successfully performs a ritual that traps Kobayende within her grandmother's corpse, attempting to free herself from the malevolent spirit’s influence. The act temporarily seems to contain the supernatural threat, giving Rosario hope.

The next morning, Rosario’s father arrives at the apartment, revealing that he was the one who made the deal with Kobayende, not Griselda. Rosario discovers that her grandmother had been offering her blood to keep the spirit away, and her father prepares to continue the sacrifices.

Her father becomes possessed by Kobayende and attacks Rosario. During the chaos, neighbor Joe tries to help her but is murdered by the spirit. Rosario fights back and manages to kill her father, believing she has defeated the malevolent entity.

In the concluding scene, Rosario is seen helping the doorman from her workplace, who had previously sought her help. After he and his wife leave, Kobayende’s decayed hand bursts from Rosario’s mouth, indicating that the evil spirit’s influence persists despite her apparent victory.
