Before the grant committee arrives, Mativo warns Hank about their impending review. Hank explains the lion pride and their fear of Togar, and asks Mativo to help keep the animals safe.

The grant committee arrives and Prentiss disapproves of the big cats, threatening to shoot them. A fight between two lions distracts Hank, who breaks it up but injures his hand. While Hank tends his wound, the tigers attack committee members, injuring several before the group flees in fear.

Back at the ranch, Mativo voices concern that another attack could come, given the committee's hostility toward the lions. Hank reassures him but agrees to monitor the situation and protect the pride. The tension underscores the danger to both humans and animals.

As the family leaves on Mativo's boat to the airport, two tigers leap aboard and pursue them. Mativo steers toward a log in the water to avoid capture, but the craft sinks. The two men swim to safety, escaping the predators.

The Madeleine and the children are advised to take a bus to the ranch but end up arriving and finding the house unattended. They discover a zebra carcass being eaten by lions in front of the house. They sense danger as animals begin entering the house and Togar pursues them.

Inside the house, Jerry grabs a rifle and attempts to shoot Togar during the clashes with Robbie. Melanie fears Hank has been killed and pleads for safety as the lions close in.

Hank and Mativo escape the tigers by taking two bicycles from a nearby village. To keep the predators from following, Mativo climbs a tree to draw their attention away. Hank continues toward safety, planning to reunite with the family.

Hank reaches Lenord's car to rescue Mativo from the tree, but a rock damages a tire on the way. He races back toward the ranch on foot while Mativo fends off the tigers with an umbrella.

The family attempts to escape aboard Hank's boat, but an elephant blocks the lake, pulling the craft back to shore and destroying it. A setback forces them to rethink their exit.

John rides for help on Hank's motorcycle but is chased by the big cats, driving into the lake to escape. He narrowly avoids another elephant as the family improvises another way to survive.

The family swims across the lake and finds another house to sleep in. They wake to find themselves surrounded by the pride and realize, since they are still alive, the animals do not intend to harm them.

Prentiss pushes to hunt the lions, and with Rick, fires on the big cats though the plan fails. Togar attacks and kills Prentiss and Rick, demonstrating the danger the lions pose.

Robbie, the pride leader, finally stands up to Togar and ends the internal conflict. Hank witnesses the resolution and prepares to return to the ranch.

Hank arrives at the ranch to find his family waiting for him, and Mativo arrives soon after. Hank asks him not to mention Prentiss or Rick's deaths, and the family agrees to stay for the week.
