Resident Evil: Damnation

Leon S. Kennedy, a DSO operative, infiltrates the Eastern Slav Republic, ignoring orders to fall back. He believes the truth about the conflict lies within the city and the rebels. Early in the mission he encounters a contact who is attacked by a fearsome Licker, and a second Licker seems to spare him, suggesting a mysterious puppeteer pulling the strings.

Leon is knocked unconscious and wakes bound to a chair in a rebel camp. He is confronted by JD, Buddy, and Ivan Judanovich, who claim leadership and warn him of the rebels' dangerous loyalties. The room hums with tension as Las Plagas infections begin to reshape loyalties and destinies.

Back in the capital city, Svetlana Belikova meets Ada Wong, who is undercover as a BSAA agent. Ada explains the science: a dominant Las Plagas parasite creates a master-slave bond with lesser BOWs infected by Progenitor-virus. Ada hints she is there to secure a Las Plagas sample for her masters.

Leon fights to warn the rebel troops about infections spreading within their ranks. Buddy's intense anger pushes the situation toward a violent crossroads with the government. Loyalties within the camp fracture as fear and revenge drive the characters toward a breaking point.

The elder Ivan succumbs to the Las Plagas parasite and dies. Buddy delivers mercy in a grim moment that reveals how personal grief has become a driving force for the rebellion. The loss hardens the rebel leadership's resolve.

Ganados begin tearing into the rebel enclave, forcing the survivors to flee. The march toward a fragile sanctuary leads them to a church that might hold the key to stopping the city-wide collapse. The escape marks a turn from street fighting to a desperate, protected enclave.

Inside the church, a rebel who freed Leon urges him to confront Buddy's escalating hatred for the government. Ada admits her singular goal: to obtain a Las Plagas sample. She warns that an imminent bombing could erase the last traces of the city's resistance.

The church comes under siege as infected push inside, killing many and infecting others, including JD. Leon and the remaining rebels push toward a fragile sanctuary within the church while planning a risky exit to the surface. The fight tightens the clock on the rebels' chances.

Ada is captured in a tense hand-to-hand confrontation as Svetlana tightens her grip. Leon and Ada cross paths again in a bunker near the hive control that could determine the city’s fate. The duo's alliance is tested as the war escalates.

Buddy arrives with Lickers summoned as weapons of war, joining the desperate struggle. Svetlana counters with a new terror: Tyrants. A long, brutal battle rips through the ruined city as jets and heavy armor bomb the area.

A daring tank assault drives the final retreat for the surviving rebels. Svetlana issues an international arrest warrant for Ada, then resigns and vanishes as a joint Russian-American invasion looms. The political landscape reshapes even as the infected still roam the streets.

In a somber turn, Leon refuses to end Buddy's suffering and shoots the parasite-laden spine to sever its control. He reports to Hunnigan about what they faced, while Ada contemplates the Las Plagas sample and the implications of its seizure or surrender. Ada's fate remains ambiguous, leaving open the possibility of future consequences.

In a quiet postscript, Buddy survives, alive but confined to a wheelchair. He pushes himself up a hill toward a school as children rush toward the building. The scene quietly signals that teaching and life can begin anew, even after tragedy.
