An intricate plot begins when sophisticated components are smuggled into the United States, disguised as a fish shipment. This elaborate scheme, which involves espionage in a prominent hotel suite, sets off the chain of events surrounding the assassination of Deputy Secretary Charles Keefe.

While on leave from her job at the Lux Atlantic Hotel in Miami, Lisa Reisert receives frequent calls from her colleague, Cynthia. During one of these discussions, Cynthia informs Lisa about the arrival of Deputy Secretary Keefe, known for his tough stance on domestic terrorism.

Lisa Reisert arrives at Dallas Love Field after attending her grandmother's funeral, preparing to catch a red-eye flight back to Miami. With personal connections to Miami through her father, Lisa reflects on her family situation during her time at the airport.

During her wait at the airport, Lisa encounters the charming Jackson Rippner. They share a drink and enjoy a lively conversation, unaware of the perilous connection that is about to unfold as they board the same flight.

On the flight, Lisa bonds with an elderly lady sitting nearby. Following takeoff, she is shocked to discover that Jackson is seated next to her, transforming her seemingly innocent flight into a terrifying ordeal.
