The BBC dramatisation of Jane Austen’s romance is set in early‑19th‑century England. It follows the Bennet sisters as the wealthy newcomer Mr Bingley and his proud, socially‑conscious friend Mr Darcy move nearby. Bingley quickly likes eldest sister Jane, while Darcy’s aloofness clashes with second sister Elizabeth, sparking conflict and self‑discovery.
