Pee Mak

In mid-19th-century Siam, Mak is drafted to fight in a war, forcing him to leave his pregnant wife Nak in Phra Khanong. He is wounded during a battle and is sent to a medical camp, where he meets fellow soldiers Ter, Puak, Shin and Aey who later become his closest friends.

Nak endures a difficult labor and gives birth to their son Dang. Whispers spread that Nak died in labor and haunts the house as a powerful ghost, with the villagers hearing lullabies from the baby.

Mak and the four friends return to Phra Khanong in the evening and reunite with Nak. Since it is too dark to travel, they decide to stay the night.

The next day, the five visit the village market and are shunned by fearful villagers who believe Nak is a ghost. Shin notices signs of Nak's haunting, including a dilapidated house, a rocking cradle, and Nak extending her arm to retrieve a dropped lime.

The friends learn of the rumors and come to fear Nak as a ghost. They attempt various methods to expose the truth, including a game of charades, but Nak nearly murders Mak; he intervenes and the others are driven away.

Mak and Nak go on a date to the town amusement park. The four friends kidnap Mak to drive a wedge between them, but Nak discovers the plan and chases them away.

During the chase, Mak's old wartime wound reopens; Shin and Ter become convinced Mak is the ghost. They attack him with holy rice, and Nak arrives to rescue him.

The friends flee by boat and Mak seems to return from the dead by walking into the river, but cramps almost drown him. Aey drops a ring identical to the one worn by Mak and Nak, leading the others to suspect he is a ghost and he is kicked off the boat.

Nak is revealed to be the ghost all along, and the others realize that living and dead cannot be together. They retreat to a temple for safety.

In the temple, monks defend with holy rice, holy water, and an enchanted 'safety ring'. Panic leads to the safety ring being destroyed and the monk fleeing; the four friends face Nak.

A pale Aey reappears and is revealed to be human; he had stolen the ring from the corpse behind the house to finance gambling. Nak angrily asserts she only wanted to be with Mak, and Mak reveals he had suspected Nak's true nature all along.

Mak and Nak reconcile; their friends reaffirm their loyalty and vow never to leave each other again. A flashback shows how Mak and Nak first met.

In the credits, Mak, Nak, and the friends live happily in the village; Nak uses her supernatural abilities to do chores, play charades, and run the town's haunted house attraction. Their infant son Dang also possesses some of her abilities.
