Nosferatu

In the early 1800s, Ellen prays for a companion to ease her loneliness. Through this plea she inadvertently contacts the Nosferatu, forging a psychic bond that ties her fate to the ancient vampire.

In 1838 Ellen marries Thomas Hutter and they settle in Wisburg. Thomas accepts a lucrative commission from Herr Knock to sell the decrepit Grünewald Manor to Count Orlok, while Ellen warns in vain that her nightmares are omens.

Thomas travels to the Carpathians to finalize the deal, but is shunned by the locals. An old woman warns him not to visit Count Orlok, and that night he witnesses Roma exhuming a corpse and later finds the hamlet deserted as an unmanned carriage takes him to Orlok's castle.

Once he meets Orlok, the Count compels the sale and demonstrates uncanny powers that unsettle Thomas. Orlok intercepts Thomas with a signed document dissolving his marriage to Ellen and steals a lock containing a strand of her hair, marking the beginning of Thomas's feverish decline.

Thomas discovers Orlok asleep in a coffin and attacks him with a pickaxe, but Orlok awakens and sends his hounds to hunt him. Thomas is swept away and falls into a river beneath the castle, where Eastern Orthodox nuns save and tend him back to health.

While Thomas is away, Orlok sails toward Wisburg inside his coffin on a plague-ridden ship, killing the crew as the voyage unfolds.

Back in Wisburg, Ellen is plagued by seizures and sleepwalking under Orlok's influence. Doctor Wilhelm Sievers seeks help from his former mentor, Albin von Franz, a Swiss occultist who confirms the demon's control.

Von Franz's research confirms the Nosferatu's hold on Ellen and explains a crucial weakness: a Nosferatu must return to the earth where it was buried to be killed.

Knock undergoes a breakdown and is institutionalized after killing and eating sheep raw, illustrating the corruption spreading through Wisborg. Sievers and Von Franz intensify their search, convinced the Nosferatu is at work.

Thomas returns to Wisborg as Orlok's plague ravages the population. Orlok confronts Ellen through nightmares and demands she submit to him in three days, threatening harm to everyone she loves.

Ellen confronts Thomas about Orlok's manipulation and their past; a moment of demonic possession leads to a troubled sexual encounter before the truth fractures their relationship.

Orlok retaliates by killing Anna and her children, shocking a grief-stricken Harding who realizes the truth only after seeing Orlok's bite marks on his friend.

Driven by grief, Harding dies and Von Franz advocates a sacrificial plan: a fair maiden's willing act can destroy Nosferatu.

Thomas, Von Franz, and Sievers go to Grünewald Manor and accidentally kill Knock, then discover Von Franz's deception as he destroys the manor's vault. Thomas races back to save Ellen.

Ellen lures Orlok to her bedroom and pledges herself to him so he can feed before sunrise. Orlok is struck down by the sunlight, and Thomas returns to hold Ellen's hand as she dies; Von Franz confirms her sacrifice has freed them from the Nosferatu plague.
