The Mounties assemble at the RCMP HQ, where the chief addresses the squad and seeks a volunteer to catch the escaped convict. All officers step back to reveal Sgt. McPoodle, effectively volunteering him for the job. The pursuit now centers on Droopy as the hunter leaving the Wolf to be pursued.

In the Yukon wilderness, the Wolf reads Burma-Shave style signs warning that he is being followed by McPoodle. He turns to see McPoodle riding up behind him, and the camera continually reveals the pursuer from new angles. The chase builds as the pattern of pursuit becomes a running gag.

The Wolf seeks refuge in a seemingly vacant cabin and seals the doors, hoping to shake his pursuer. McPoodle sits in an armchair inside, calmly reading a comic strip. The Wolf panics, reopens the doors, and finds McPoodle waiting in the doorway behind him as well.

The Wolf climbs to the mountain summit and finds a large egg in a bird nest. He declares he will never be found there, but the egg cracks and McPoodle emerges. The surprise switch in the predator becomes a direct threat as the chase continues.

The Wolf dives into the lake below, feeling momentarily safe underwater. He then spots McPoodle among the schooling fish, proving the hunter can appear even beneath the surface. The pursuit persists with the same relentless pattern.

After the chase resumes, the Wolf hops into a taxi and heads toward the airport, with McPoodle close behind. They board a plane together, and the pursuit carries them to a tiny atoll in the ocean. The Wolf notes the ongoing pattern as they near the final stretch.

On the atoll, the Wolf anticipates McPoodle emerging from the larger rock, only to be surprised when McPoodle surfaces from the smaller rock instead. The repeated rock-outburst reinforces the relentless, playful cat-and-mouse dynamic of their chase.

The Wolf swims to New York City and dashes through the streets, nearly tumbling off the edge of the film. He seeks refuge in a movie theater, where an MGM cartoon begins and McPoodle greets him from the screen, prompting another desperate escape.

The Wolf visits a plastic surgeon, hoping for a new face, and ends up with a visage that resembles McPoodle. He begs to restore his original look, only to discover the surgeon's own face has also transformed into McPoodle's, trapping him in a comic identity loop.

Desperation leads the Wolf to offer himself to a lion in a zoo, where he unexpectedly shares the belly with McPoodle. He escapes and rushes to a hotel, only to find that one room has become a prison cell, forcing him to confront his catch-me-if-you-can reality.

As the chase dissolves into memory, hundreds of McPoodles appear in a hallway and respond in unison to the Wolf's reflection with, 'What do you think, brother?' The ending emphasizes the comic, self-referential nature of the pursuit and its relentless repetition.
