Murder Company

Two days before the Normandy invasion, Jim Southern is hanging upside down in a forest, managing to free himself and take cover after being shot at. He moves stealthily through the trees, signaling the chaotic and dangerous environment of the upcoming assault. Southern and his fellow paratrooper William Cerino start searching for Colonel Redding amidst gunfire and chaos.

Southern, Cerino, and Tally find Colonel Redding's body hanging in the forest. Tally searches the body for information, indicating the urgency to gather intelligence. Their discovery is interrupted when they are ambushed, and Tally is killed by the German patrol.

Remaining paratroopers continue through the forest and spot a flak wagon. They prepare to attack but it explodes in flames, revealing their ambushers led by Lieutenant Smith and others. This marks the start of intense combat with German forces in the area.

Southern and Smith meet General Haskel, who explains that the drop zones were inaccurate due to flooded rivers. He informs them that the 82nd Airborne is cut off and assigns them a mission to rescue a resistance fighter with critical intelligence on a Nazi SS officer.

The squad clears Nazi soldiers in the village of La Fiere, where they meet Jean Daquin, a French resistance member. Jean joins to help them locate and eliminate SS Officer Ramsy, a crucial step for buying time for the Allies.

The squad engages in several firefights, including rescuing wounded paratroopers and battling Nazi patrols. Jean proves his bravery by saving Southern during a firefight, causing some tension about following orders. The team discusses their mission to reach Bastogne.

During a night break, Miller shares stories, but he and later Haskel's company are attacked, leading to Miller's death. The group mourns, and Haskel prepares his men for a counterattack, emphasizing the urgency of their mission and the dire situation.

Southern, Coolidge, Stubbs, and Jean move into enemy territory to find the SS headquarters of the 12th SS Panzer Division 'Hitlerjugend.' They plan an assault, with each member taking strategic positions for an attack on the Nazi base.

The squad executes their plan as they infiltrate the Nazi base. They face heavy resistance, with Stubbs injured and Coolidge planting explosives. Jean fights Ramsey, the SS officer, in a desperate confrontation that ends with Ramsey begging for mercy before being shot.

After destroying the base, the squad rescues captured paratroopers and secures the area, allowing the Allies to gain access to one of the beaches. Despite success in some areas, the invasion is chaotic and costly, with many losses on both sides.

Exhausted, the remaining paratroopers reflect on their experiences, sharing a moment of respite. Jean departs, having completed his vendetta, while Southern reflects that the war is just beginning, signaling ongoing battles and future conflicts.
