The action unfolds after the 1757 Battle of Bobbili, in a volatile period when local rulers, rebels, and colonial powers jostle for control. Social reform, banditry, and treasure-hunting intersect, creating shifting loyalties and constant danger.

Set in 18th-century South India, the story moves among Bobbili’s aftermath, the towns of Kurnool and Gadwal, and the Amaraveedu region where a five-key treasure is buried in a cave. The era is marked by political chaos and colonial interference from the British and French. The landscape features dusty roads, rugged terrain, and ancient forts guarding the treasure cave.

Greed drives much of the plot as the Amaraveedu treasure is pursued by various factions. Some characters justify the loot to aid the poor, while others pursue personal gain, creating moral ambiguity.
