Major Chakradhar [N.T. Rama Rao] is a lionhearted soldier whose life centers on duty and family. He shares a simple, steadfast bond with his mother Annapurna, his sister Jayanti, and his fiancée Vijaya [Sridevi], an able advocate who believes in justice. As the wedding plans hover on the brink of begin, an emergency declaration from the Army throws everything into upheaval. Chakradhar must pause the ceremony and march to the frontlines, where danger and duty collide in a harsh, demanding way. The story follows his path from a personal life put on hold to a battlefield where courage is measured in grit, endurance, and the willingness to face the worst kinds of threats.

In the midst of this turmoil, a devout yet treacherous figure named Acharya Shankaraiah sows chaos by manipulating powerful officials. His actions ripple through society, creating an atmosphere of distrust and peril. Annapurna’s visit to Shankaraiah’s Ashram leads to a shattering revelation: he is her long-absent husband who once served with the Army, and the fearsome truth unsettles everyone. In a cruel twist, Shankaraiah murders Annapurna, a crime that steels Chakradhar’s resolve. Yet even as he keeps his composure under fire in the war zone, his resolve grows into a broader, more defiant stance. For his bravery, he is honored with the Maha Vir Chakra, a testament to his sacrifices and his insistence on duty in the face of danger.

Upon his return, Chakradhar learns that Jayanti has fallen in love with Murali [Murali Mohan], a development that adds a personal dimension to his battles. The family, and the wider society, are soon confronted with a harsher set of trials: Kondala Rao, Chakradhar’s father, urges him to arrange a marriage for Jyothi, his unstable daughter, forcing Chakradhar to make a heartrending sacrifice of his own romance to secure what he believes is a larger good. Meanwhile, a chain of criminal acts tests his sense of justice. An industrialist named Rajanala commits arson at an empty warehouse by concealing grains, and a reckless driver named Bheema Raju drives through crowds, harming innocents. Chakradhar takes up these cases, fighting to bring perpetrators to account, only to confront a stigmatized and corrupted judiciary that Shankaraiah manipulates to acquit offenders.

Frustration becomes rebellion when Chakradhar refuses to tolerate the abuse of power. He erupts as a rebel figure, known in the streets as the Bobbili Puli, and begins swinging against those who abuse the law and prey on the weak. The state responds by sending an officer, Gopinath, to capture him, presenting a promise of justice in exchange for surrender. Chakradhar refuses to back down, insisting that true justice cannot be bought. In this brutal tug-of-war, tragedy strikes again: Prasad, Bhanoji Rao’s loyalist, molests Jayanti and murders Murali, a blow that hardens Chakradhar’s resolve even further. The violence provokes a cascade of revelations and confrontations, and the rebel’s fury becomes a crusade against those who manipulate power for personal gain.

As the turmoil intensifies, Bhanoji Rao’s confidant exposes the larger conspiracy: the true mastermind is Shankaraiah. The revelation shakes Chakradhar to the core, revealing the layers of deceit that have haunted his life and his family’s past. In a climactic turn, Chakradhar eliminates Shankaraiah and, after confronting the painful truths about his origins and the murder of his mother, surrenders to the authorities. The story culminates in a courtroom showdown that tests the ideals he has fought to uphold. In the end, the judicial process declares Chakradhar guilty, setting him on a path toward a death penalty, a stark conclusion that questions the ethics of justice, loyalty, and the price of fighting for what is right.

Throughout the narrative, the film blends high-stakes action with personal sacrifice, presenting a portrait of a man who sacrifices love and safety for the greater good, only to confront a system that cannot easily reward or redeem such sacrifices.
