Morbius cuts his hand intentionally to attract the bats. Knowing that bats are drawn to blood, he uses his own blood as bait to lure them out of the cave so he can study their DNA. This deliberate act demonstrates his desperation to find a cure for his rare blood disease, as he believes the bats' unique biology holds the key to saving himself and others who suffer from the same condition.

Earlier in the film, Michael is shown using a pen spring to repair a machine, showing his resourceful nature when dealing with medical crises.

Morbius declines the Nobel Peace Prize in Sweden because his research is not yet complete. While he is highly respected and on the verge of receiving the prestigious award, he chooses to continue his work rather than accept recognition for unfinished science. His obsession with finding a cure for the blood disease that has plagued him since childhood drives him to keep pushing forward.

Milo takes the serum because he has the same blood disease as Morbius and wants the same powers. Unlike Morbius, who struggles to control his vampiric urges, Milo embraces the transformation completely, believing the powers are a gift rather than a curse. He sees the serum as liberation from his illness and human limitations, leading him to kill indiscriminately.

Milo was bullied as a child for his illness, giving him reason to want to escape his fragile human state.

Milo is Morbius's adopted brother. They met as children at the institution in Greece where both were being treated for the same rare blood disease. Michael gave Milo his nickname, inspired by a previous child who had the same condition. Despite not being biologically related, their shared suffering created a bond that feels almost like brothers, which makes their eventual conflict tragic.

As children, Michael saves Milo by repairing his malfunctioning machine, establishing their brotherly connection early on.

Martine reawakens as a vampire after Morbius defeats Milo. During the final confrontation, Milo injures Martine, and she appears to die, but in the aftermath, she opens her eyes with vampire-like fangs exposed. This hints that she has been transformed, suggesting the cycle of darkness continues and that Morbius may not be the only vampire left.

Milo kills Dr. Emil Nicholas. After Milo becomes a vampire and goes on a killing spree, he murders Nicholas, who was trying to protect his son. Nicholas had cared for both Michael and Milo since they were children, and his death further motivates Morbius to stop Milo.

Nicholas appears as a mentor figure throughout the film, making his death a significant emotional loss.

The post-credits scene reveals Adrian Toomes (played by Michael Keaton) arriving from another universe through a multiverse rift. Toomes, who was transported from the Spider-Man: No Way Home universe, seeks Morbius's help to assemble a team to fight Spider-Man. This connects Morbius to the broader Sony Spider-Man universe and sets up potential future crossover films.

FBI agents Simon Stroud and Al Rodriguez investigate Morbius because he is the prime suspect in the mysterious death on the ship and the subsequent murders. They question him and eventually detain him, believing he is responsible for the attacks, even though some killings are actually committed by Milo. The investigation adds pressure to Morbius as he tries to control his condition.

After his transformation, Morbius gains the ability to command bats, who recognize him as their leader. His serum, which combines human blood with bat DNA, essentially makes him part bat, allowing him to communicate with and control the creatures. He uses this ability to aid him in his escapes and to enhance his powers.
