The Brotherhood of Satan

On a blistering stretch of the California desert, widowed Ben Holden travels with his young daughter K. T. and his girlfriend Nicky. They stumble on a smoldering wreck and what looks like human remains, prompting Ben to hurry to the nearest town, Hillsboro, to report the crash. The moment they arrive, the town’s sheriff, Pete, clashes with them in a tense confrontation while curious locals observe from the doors and windows. Pete’s hostility dissipates after a forceful exchange, Ben is released, and the trio escapes back onto the road, unsettled by the sense that something dark is already close behind them.

Unbeknownst to Ben, Hillsboro is gripped by fear: 26 residents have died violently in the past three days, and several children have vanished. Dr. Duncan, the town physician, teams with the deputy and others to investigate the wreckage, discovering the two adult drivers are dead and that Timmy, another local child, is missing. Ben, Nicky, and K. T try to put distance between themselves and the unraveling mystery, but a mysterious young girl appears on the road, causing a secondary crash that forces them to return to town on foot, clutching at the fraying edges of safety and sanity.

That night, tragedy deepens: Ed Meadows and his wife Mildred are found dead in their home after a doll seemingly comes to life and acts with a chilling, agency-like force. Meanwhile, at the Barry house overlooking Hillsboro, the premises hide a secret: the elderly residents are a coven of witches who worship Satan, and Dr. Duncan presides over their ritual. In a dimly lit chamber, a ritual table becomes the focal point as several children stand entranced on pedestals, the witches’ plan to transfer their souls into the living youngsters unfolding before unsteady eyes. Outside, murals depict dead children and cloaked figures, underscoring a town-wide eeriness that has quietly tipped into horror.

Ben, Nicky, and K. T reach Ed and Mildred’s home to find the couple dead, and the trio seeks shelter with Pete’s family, hoping to lay low. But the night reveals other signs of the town’s creeping evil: Father Jack, the town’s priest, stays up late poring over occult lore and spots a disturbing pattern—children appear central to the mystery. In the meantime, Nicky experiences a nightmare, and by dawn the group discovers that K. T has vanished. She later surfaces among Hillsboro’s children, who gather at the Barry house, playing with toys in a room rich with gothic murals and the sense that the living are being transformed by some forbidden force. Mike, another local resident, discovers his son Joey wandering in a trance and is tragically killed in the woods, a moment witnessed in terror by Father Jack.

With a plan to reclaim their town, Dr. Duncan begins to enact the alleged transfer, calling for one soul per coven member to inhabit the children. The men—Ben, Pete, Tobey, and Father Jack—rally to confront the Barry house, torn between protection and fear as the toys and murals seem to animate into instruments of danger. A chilling discovery—mutilated yet somehow intact—signals that the coven’s influence has already taken root in the children, and the men realize too late that the ritual has succeeded in binding the witches’ souls to the youngsters. The door bursts open to reveal a room where the children, now vessels of the coven’s dark power, fix the intruders with a hollow, ceremonial stillness that hints at Hillsboro’s grim fate.
