Missing in Action

Retired Colonel James Braddock awakens from a nightmare filled with memories of his traumatic experiences during the Vietnam War. These experiences include the harrowing years he spent as a prisoner of war, which continue to plague him even in his peaceful life back home in California.

Braddock was captured during the Vietnam War and held in a North Vietnamese POW camp. Despite the end of the conflict, he remained imprisoned and was eventually classified as MIA by the U.S. government.

After seven grueling years in captivity, Braddock manages to escape from the POW camp. He returns home to the United States, haunted not only by his own experiences but by the belief that other American soldiers remain trapped in Vietnam.

Once home, Braddock becomes an outspoken advocate for the MIAs, believing that many are still alive in Vietnam. However, his claims lack concrete evidence, leading to skepticism from both the public and government officials.

At the request of the U.S. government, Braddock travels back to Vietnam to join an investigative committee led by Senator Maxwell Porter. His arrival in Ho Chi Minh City brings back memories of his imprisonment and the horrors he faced during the war.

In Vietnam, Braddock encounters Colonel Vinh, the North Vietnamese officer responsible for his torture. During a tense negotiation with General Tran, Braddock learns that the North Vietnamese are attempting to paint him as a war criminal.

That night, Braddock covertly infiltrates Tran's compound to extract information about the missing American soldiers. When confronted, he threatens Tran's life, leading to a violent confrontation where he kills the general.

After the confrontation with Tran, Braddock returns to his hotel room where he is met by Ann Fitzgerald, a member of the investigation team. She offers her support by providing a cover for Braddock when soldiers search for him, allowing him to escape detection.

Braddock travels to Bangkok, Thailand, seeking out an old comrade named Jack Tucker who is now involved in smuggling. After convincing Tucker to aid him, they plan a mission to rescue the MIA soldiers still thought to be held captive.

In preparation for the mission, Braddock acquires weapons and survival gear, including a bullet-proof assault raft. As they finalize their plans, Colonel Vinh attempts to eliminate Braddock by sending agents to attack him in Bangkok.

Braddock and Tucker embark on their mission, navigating the river to locate the POW camp. While Tucker oversees the raft, Braddock bravely infiltrates the heavily guarded camp to begin his one-man assault to free the prisoners.

After launching a surprise attack on the enemy camp, Braddock successfully takes control. However, he discovers that the American POWs have been moved just before his arrival, setting off a race against time to find and rescue them.

Braddock teams up with Tucker to intercept the enemy convoy transporting the remaining American prisoners. In a fierce firefight, they manage to rescue four prisoners but face intense combat while trying to escape back to their boat.

As Braddock, the POWs, and Tucker approach the boat, a Vietnamese armed patrol boat appears, leading to a climactic battle. With the arrival of their backup helicopter, they make a narrow escape as Tuck bravely fights off the attackers before sacrificing himself.

In a dramatic scene, Braddock lands the helicopter in front of Senator Porter and the investigative committee, revealing the captured soldiers. He exposes the Vietnamese government's deceit about the fate of American soldiers, shining a light on the ongoing issue of MIAs.
