Col. James Braddock, Chuck Norris, a Vietnam War veteran, had believed his wife Lin Tan Cang, Miki Kim, to be dead after the war, until a missionary brings startling news: Lin is alive and Braddock and Lin have a 12-year-old son, Van Tan Cang, Roland Harrah III. This revelation arrives with the cold certainty of a warning: a trusted CIA boss, Jack Rader as Littlejohn, urges Braddock to discard the claim, but the truth pierces the doubt, nudging him toward a dangerous homecoming.

Driven by a blend of duty and longing, Braddock undertakes a perilous return into Vietnam, aided by the rough-edged skill of an Australian C-47 pilot. The operation begins with a parachute insertion, a quiet and methodical descent that gives way to a high-stakes escape: Braddock outruns Vietnamese Navy patrol boats using a jet-powered speedboat, a pulse-quickening pursuit that sets the tone for what follows.

Guided by the resolute Reverend Polanski, Yehuda Efroni, Braddock traces Lin and Van to a fragile sanctuary. But history and hatred are never far behind. As the trio makes a bid to flee the country, they are captured by the sadistic General Quoc, Aki Aleong, whose brutality falls with a merciless inevitability. Lin is killed in front of Braddock, a devastating blow that steels his resolve and cements his vow: rescue the children, including his son, from a camp where fear and coercion are the rules of power.

The gauntlet Braddock must run becomes an assault on a fortified compound. He overpowers guards, frees Van, and makes for a mission run by Polanski. The escape continues on a dangerous line of travel. Braddock loads the rescued children into a truck and breaks out with a fierce, almost surgical efficiency, all while a Vietnamese-captured U.S. UH-1 Huey closes in. The pursuit spirals into a chase across terrain that tests every nerve and fiber of the rescuers. After a tense sprint on foot toward a distant airstrip, Braddock leads a quiet, deadly takedown of guards and hijacks a C-47 Dakota plane. Yet danger follows, and the plane is soon attacked, causing a fuel leak that forces a crash just outside the Cambodian-Thailand border.

What remains is a calculated stand at the border itself. Braddock infiltrates a border station where Thai and U.S. troops stand watch, and the scene erupts into a dramatic exchange of fire. The battle escalates as Quoc flies in on a Vietnamese Mil-24 Hind gunship, deciding that he will claim Braddock and the children in a final, devastating confrontation. Two U.S. helicopters stationed near the Thai border respond, taunting Quoc to cross the line as Braddock and Van deliver a coordinated assault, targeting Quoc’s gunship. The pilots are caught in the crossfire, and Quoc’s aircraft goes down in a explosive crash, a decisive outcome that shifts the balance of the conflict.

With Quoc defeated and the border crossing secured, U.S. troops surge across the bridge to support Braddock and the children, who are left battered but alive. The rescue mission culminates in a hard-won, hard-sober triumph: Braddock, his family, and their saviors survive a gauntlet of violence, leaving a stark impression of resolve and resilience in the face of relentless danger. The aftermath underscores the fragile line between war and home, and the lengths a father will go to reunite with his family against impossible odds.
