Michael Felgate, an amiable English auctioneer, has established his life in the vibrant city of New York, where he oversees the prestigious Cromwell auction house. His life takes an unexpected turn after he proposes to his beloved girlfriend, Gina Vitale, only to receive a heart-wrenching rejection. The reason for Gina’s refusal soon comes to light, revealing her family’s deep entanglements in organized crime. Her father, Frank, along with numerous cousins and uncles, are entrenched in a notorious Mafia crime family, leaving Gina anxious about Michael’s potential involvement in their illicit activities.

After their brief engagement party, Michael inadvertently becomes entangled in a money laundering scheme within his own auction house, catching the attention of the FBI. Things take a darker turn when Gina’s cousin, Johnny, confronts Michael, leading to a violent clash that tragically ends with Johnny being accidentally shot by Gina herself.

The aftermath of this devastating incident ignites a chain reaction, as Vito, Johnny’s father, vows retaliation against Gina unless her father, Frank, executes his sinister order to eliminate Michael during the wedding toast. However, an unexpected bond forms between Frank and Michael, leading Frank to disclose the plot to him. In a bid for safety, they seek protection from the FBI.

In a bold operation, the FBI devises a plan to simulate Michael’s execution at the wedding reception. Armed with a covert recording device, Michael’s mission is to gather incriminating evidence from Vito before the ruse is executed. Unfortunately, the plan spirals out of control; when Vito discovers the deception, he sends his loyal henchman, Vinnie, to finish off Michael.

Amidst the ensuing chaos, Vinnie accidentally shoots Gina, leaving her in critical condition. As Frank and a devastated Michael mourn what appears to be her death, a shocking revelation unfolds during their eulogy—Gina’s demise was merely a façade. In truth, she had been collaborating with the FBI to create a backup plan, ensuring Vito’s downfall while safeguarding her loved ones.

As the intricate web of betrayal and loyalty begins to disentangle, justice prevails, and Michael emerges from the experience with newfound wisdom, bracing himself to navigate the perilous landscape of his reality with greater caution.
