Mickey 17

The film opens with Mickey Barnes falling from a great height into an icy crevasse on the planet Niflheim. Despite the perilous situation, he survives, leading his friend Timo to wonder about the nature of death as they confront an impending threat.

In a flashback, Mickey and Timo find themselves in trouble with a dangerous loan shark named Darius Blank on Earth. To escape their dire circumstances, they decide to join a crew working to colonize Niflheim, aiming for a fresh start away from their debts.

Upon arriving in the colony, Mickey takes on the role of an Expendable, tasked with dangerous missions such as gathering samples from a deadly virus. This role weighs heavily on him, as he also grapples with haunting memories of a childhood accident he believes led to his mother's death.

During his time in the colony, Mickey meets Nasha Barridge, a compelling security agent, and they develop a romantic relationship. Despite strict orders against any sexual relations from Kenneth Marshall, the colony leader, they continue to see each other discreetly.

In the fourth year, Mickey joins a team that includes Timo and two other agents on a mission to capture one of the peculiar creatures known as Creepers. Chaos erupts when a shooting triggers an avalanche, leading to devastation within the team.

After the expedition, Mickey returns to his quarters to find that a new clone, Mickey 18, has been created, as the colony had presumed the original Mickey was dead. This revelation causes panic as clones are strictly forbidden, and doubles face lethal consequences.

At a dinner hosted by Kenneth and Ylfa Marshall, tensions rise when Mickey suffers a violent reaction to experimental hormones. The unpleasant experience underscores the dangers they face and the manipulative nature of their leaders.

After being imprisoned, Mickey 17, Mickey 18, and Nasha devise a plan to escape. Utilizing deception, they manage to break free from captivity, showcasing their determination to survive against the oppressive forces in the colony.

As tensions escalate, the Creepers reveal their capacity for communication, demanding the return of their captured offspring and the life of a human in exchange. This sets the stage for a climactic confrontation between the colonists and the creatures.

Kenneth Marshall, fueled by paranoia and vengeance, prepares to eradicate the Creepers. His reckless aggression threatens not only the creatures but also the lives of Mickey and everyone in the colony, leading to a critical turning point.

As a final act to end the cycle of cloning, Mickey is given the honor of detonating the clone printer. This symbolizes a significant step towards closing a dark chapter in the colony's history and forging a new beginning.
