The corrupt DSP Surla makes his presence felt by publicly humiliating Daali at a toll plaza, a cruel publicity stunt that foreshadows a brutal tug-of-war between law and crime. Daali, smarting from this humiliation, threatens Raghavan—the father of Sowmya—and demands repayment of a loan through any means necessary, even if it pushes him to force Raghavan to swallow poison to keep a promise.
