Long Distance

Andy Ramirez wakes from cryogenic sleep amid alarms aboard Borealis. He finds himself in an escape pod hurtling toward a barren alien planet, signaling a perilous landing. The pod's trajectory hints at a long and dangerous ordeal ahead.

In the cramped pod, Andy realizes he is the sole survivor. LEONARD confirms the grim reality, and he notes that oxygen reserves are already stretched thin.

Andy works to patch a catastrophic oxygen breach from his suit, fighting for every breath. LEONARD recalculates the odds as the depleted tanks threaten his survival on the surface.

Andy intercepts a distress broadcast from Naomi Calloway, trapped about 10 km away in an adjacent escape pod. He weighs the oxygen cost against the chance of rescue, guided by LEONARD's risk assessment.

During his trek, Andy encounters Dwayne, another survivor broadcasting a final distress signal. Before he can assist, a spider-like predator snatches Dwayne away, leaving Andy to press on alone.

Naomi's plea cuts through the static as she broadcasts for help. Andy commits to reaching her pod despite the heavy oxygen drain, driven by the hope of connecting with another survivor.

The journey across the hostile landscape is brutal, with spider-like beasts and other threats closing in at every turn. Andy fights to conserve air as he pushes toward Naomi's location.

Andy reaches Naomi's escape pod and frees her from the wreck. She shares her oxygen to keep them both alive, and their bond deepens as they face the looming danger together.

With Naomi's oxygen supplies, the pair gains access to the damaged Borealis wreck. They fight off a dangerous creature to create a path into the vessel.

A larger spider-like creature attacks as they close the door. They are forced to retreat into the airlock, where the monster begins to breach.

Naomi discovers a pouch of dangerous fireflies and throws it at the creature, startling it. The distraction buys them time to move toward the cargo bay and a secure exit.

The creature follows into the cargo bay, and Naomi distracts it long enough for Andy to drop an escape pod onto it, crushing the threat. With the danger defeated, they secure a safer route toward a storage area and possible exit.

Left with supplies for what could be an 18-month wait, Andy and Naomi decide to endure together. The companionship and renewed emotional connection give them hope and a reason to endure the isolation.
