Grateful, Kornel leaves a large inheritance to his nurse Alice (Adina Mandlová) if she marries. Now called Petr Suk (Hugo Haas), the nephew visits a doctor, where a mis‑switched X‑ray makes him think he is gravely ill and has only one day left.
