As dawn breaks over Marseille, Corey, a man with a past steeped in the city’s gritty underbelly, is released from prison due to good behavior. Seizing this opportunity, Corey reconnects with his old associate, Rico, who has since distanced himself from their former escapades and is now entangled with his ex-girlfriend.

Determined to reclaim what he believes is due, Corey utilizes both coercion and charm to retrieve cash and a handgun from Rico’s safe. His next destination is a local billiard hall, where he finds himself in a precarious standoff with two of Rico’s henchmen. In a whirlwind of tension, Corey manages to subdue one attacker while rendering the other unconscious, claiming their weapons as trophies. With his newfound gear, he purchases a sturdy American roadster, concealing his arms in the trunk and setting his sights on Paris. His journey is accompanied by the smooth sounds of jazz and radio broadcasts, offering a glimpse into a world beyond the rough confines of his past.

Simultaneously, Vogel finds himself on a different path, being transported to Paris for interrogation by Commissaire Mattei (not portrayed by any listed actor). Seizing the moment during their transport, Vogel escapes from his captors with the sharp instincts of a man on the brink of desperation. Just as it appears Corey may fall victim to their intentions, Vogel emerges dramatically from the trunk, unleashing a fiery retaliation upon the attackers, securing their temporary safety.

Upon arriving in Paris, the duo strategizes for an impending jewelry heist. They quickly acknowledge the necessity of a skilled marksman and a crafty fence to facilitate their plans. Mattei, still obsessively tracking down those responsible for Rico’s downfall, applies pressure on Santi, a nightclub mogul entangled in the city’s underworld, in search of Vogel’s whereabouts. Corey ultimately seeks the assistance of Jansen, a weathered ex-policeman with a taste for hard liquor and remarkable marksmanship, to collaborate with a fence. After a restless night filled with anticipation, Corey, along with Vogel and Jansen, successfully executes the jewelry heist. However, their initial victory quickly turns sour when the fence, intimidated by Rico’s wrath, backs out of the deal.

Unfazed and resolute, Jansen and Vogel urge Corey to seek alternative fencing options through Santi’s network. Meanwhile, Mattei employs cunning tactics, blackmailing Santi into revealing a meeting arranged at his nightclub, where Corey is set to rendezvous with a new contact. Disguising himself as the fence, Mattei instructs Corey to deliver the stolen jewels to a hidden estate in the countryside.

Compelled to comply, Corey embarks on the journey with Jansen as his backup, while Vogel, entrusted with the symbolism of caution—a crimson rose gifted from Santi’s flower girl—remains behind at their apartment. Arriving at the estate, Corey presents the jewels, only for Vogel to make a sudden and unexpected appearance, sensing treachery lurking within the new fence’s intentions. With urgency, Vogel pushes Corey to escape with the goods as tensions simmer into a confrontation.

As gunfire breaks through the veneer of calm at the estate, Jansen rushes in, alert to the chaos, in a desperate attempt to intervene. One by one, the trio falls prey to Mattei’s relentless officers, their pursuit leaving them vulnerable, while the ill-fated jewelry is ultimately recovered by the authorities, sealing a fate wrought with peril and lost opportunities.
