Seven Thieves

The aging American professor Theo Wilkins enlists Paul Mason for one final score. He also assembles a trusted crew, including Melanie, Pancho, Louis, Le May, and Fritz, each with a defined role. Their target is four million francs stored in Monte Carlo's underground vault, and the plan hinges on flawless coordination and timing.

Wilkins outlines the scheme and assigns disguises and tasks to the crew. Pancho will pose as the aristocratic Barón von Roelitz, while Wilkins pretends to be his physician, Dr. Vidal. Le May, the director's assistant, provides the invitations and inside access needed to slip into the party.

The team infiltrates the casino as guests attend the grand celebration, with Mason and Louis using party invitations and Melanie leveraging her presence to monitor the plan. They move with careful nerve while blending into the crowd. The festive atmosphere masks their precise, dangerous movements.

Mason and Louis step out onto a narrow ledge through a window opened by Melanie and travel high above the sea to reach the director's office. They descend via an elevator to access the vault four floors below. The climb is perilous and tightly timed as guards patrol below.

From the director's office, the pair ride the elevator down to the vault, cut through a barred gate, and drill the lock to secure the cash. They stash the money in the hollow seat of the Baron's wheelchair to conceal it during the return trip. Their movements remain quiet as alarms stay silent.

Pancho is supposed to take a cyanide pill to fake a heart attack, but he hesitates. Wilkins injects Pancho with cyanide instead, causing him to collapse. Wilkins then convinces the director to transport the supposed Baron to his office, feigning the need for discretion.

In the director's office, Louis and Mason stash the stolen cash in the hollow seat of the Baron's wheelchair. They retrace the ledge back to the casino floor as Melanie keeps watch and the others slip away in small groups. Mason exits separately, keeping his own plan in motion.

The ambulance is driven by Fritz, with Pancho strapped into a wheelchair for transport through the side entrance. The conspirators use the apparent emergency to facilitate their escape. The plan hinges on the illusion of a medical emergency reaching a convincing conclusion.

Just as Pancho regains consciousness in the back of the ambulance, Wilkins dies—smiling at the success of the scheme. Mason and Melanie drive his body back to his hotel, adding a personal shock to the triumph. The heist appears complete, but the fallout is only beginning.

Mason and Melanie discover the currency is brand new and its serial numbers match Bank of France records, making it nearly impossible to spend without triggering suspicion. The realization forces them to rethink their involvement and future.
