When Pabawathie refuses to return to Kusawathie despite Okkaka's pleas, he issues a brutal decree as punishment for defying the emperor. He orders her to be cut into seven pieces and distributed among the seven kings who are preparing for war, attempting to appease them with this grim offering.

This extreme punishment sets up the climactic moment where Kusa must intervene to save her.

When Kusa returns at the last moment to defend Pabawathie and declares her as his true wife, a powerful rainstorm erupts. The rain symbolically washes away the ugliness that defined Kusa's face, magically transforming him into a handsome man and sealing their reunion.

After witnessing Kusa's courage in defending his wife and the magical transformation that removes his ugliness, Okkaka recognizes Kusa as the rightful emperor. He cedes the crown to his son, believing Kusa is worthy to rule and bring a new era to the kingdom.

The succession marks the fulfillment of Kusa's journey from a reluctant prince to a confident ruler.
