Beauty and the Beast

A wealthy merchant lives in luxury with his two sons, Oliver and Frederick, and three daughters: Bettina, Isabella and Beauty. Beauty, the youngest, serves as the family's caregiver, looking after her siblings and keeping the household together. She often wonders what life would be like if she could do something for herself outside of caretaking.

A storm at sea wipes out the merchant's wealth, forcing the family to renounce their luxurious life. They move to the countryside, and Beauty resumes her role as caretaker, keeping the family together under trying circumstances. The upheaval tests their bonds but also shows Beauty's quiet resilience.

With wealth gone, the family relocates to the countryside. Beauty again takes charge of the siblings and household, showing strength by managing chores and consoling her family. The loss of luxury challenges them, yet their familial bonds endure.

The family learns that a ship has reached port and wealth might be returned. The father promises his children gifts of luxury to celebrate, but Beauty desires only a single rose as a reminder of beauty and hope.

Believing the fortune to be unlikely, the merchant returns home but stops at a beautiful castle where an unseen host provides food and shelter. While there, he plucks a rose from the garden, triggering the Beast's demand that Beauty accompany him as punishment.

The Beast declares that Beauty must come to live with him. Beauty's father brings Beauty to the castle; in return, the Beast gives him two chests of gold and horses to carry the wealth as compensation for losing his daughter.

Beauty discovers that in the castle nearly anything she desires appears, and the Beast displays magical powers. They mainly interact during dinners, and the Beast repeatedly asks if she loves him and if she will marry him.

Beauty dreams of a prince she loves and discovers a painting of the prince within the castle, hinting at a hidden destiny. This revelation begins to soften her view of the Beast, revealing that he may be more than he seems.

Beauty asks to visit her family, and the Beast agrees on the condition that she returns in one month. Time flows differently in the castle, so what feels like a week there becomes a year in the outside world.

During Beauty's absence, her family learns to care for themselves rather than relying on Beauty's supervision. They adapt to life without their elder sister, building new routines and skills.

Beauty returns to the castle to find the Beast dying from her lateness. Her tears and pleas move him, and she realizes how deeply she cares for him.

The Beast asks again if she will marry him; this time Beauty says yes. Her confession of love breaks the curse, and the Beast is transformed back into the prince, healing his body.

All his former subjects reappear, and Beauty's family can visit her at will. She and the prince wed, and Beauty becomes a princess, finally secure in love and family.
