An unemployed man named Sivaraman arrives in Mumbai seeking work. He quickly loses all his certificates and money, leaving him desperate. He then meets Govindan Kutty, an old friend who is also jobless and wandering the city.

Sivaraman and Govindan Kutty attempt to obtain a visa through a travel agency, but the large sum required proves unattainable. The failure to secure funds pushes them toward a desperate, illegal option. They realize a breakthrough is needed to stay in Mumbai.

Govindan Kutty persuades Sivaraman to join a bank robbery planned by Thomas Mathews and his gang, including Tyootty and Elina. The pair decide to take part, despite knowing the danger. It marks a turning point as they enter a criminal scheme to change their fortunes.

The bank robbery is attempted but ends in failure when they hit Pothuval. The plan unravels, leaving the criminals exposed and scrambling. Sivaraman and Govindan Kutty face growing risk as police and enemies close in.

Elina secretly informs the police about the robbery and reveals that Thomas engineered the plan to steal the money for himself. The money remains hidden, with only Nambeeshan, his lawyer, knowing its location. The police move in as the truth starts to surface.

Elina pretends to be in love with Nambeeshan to coax him into revealing the money's hiding place. She uses charm and deceit to navigate the web around the stash. This sets off a fresh round of scheming as the group tries to safeguard the loot.

To create a safe cover, Sivaraman and Govindan Kutty impersonate Kunjunni, the supposed grandson of a rich but blind elderly couple, Thampuran and Sethu. They disguise Govindan Kutty's body and use Sivaraman's voice to play the part. Their impersonation brings confusion and humor to the household.

Pothuval tries to expose the truth, but his attempts largely fail as the impersonation continues. Radhika Menon disguises herself as Kunjunni's lover and calls the couple's estranged relatives to gather at the house. The relatives arrive and the household is kept on edge, fueling the drama.

To maintain the ruse during a crisis, Govindan Kutty pretends to faint and is hospitalized. Sivaraman steps in as Dr. Gopalakrishnan to continue the deception. The farce persists amid comic bickering and mounting tension.

Govindan Kutty attempts to steal the Lord Krishna statue to fetch a fortune, placing a teapoy on the staircase to trap the blind elder lady inside. Sivaraman confronts him and stops the theft, leading Thampuran to accuse the relatives of greed. The family drama escalates as the truth threatens to spill out.

The truth about Thampuran and Sethu's decades-long blindness emerges after a car accident that killed their son and daughter-in-law. The revelation heightens the emotional stakes as the visa deadline looms. Radhika lends money for the visa, but the group soon learns the agency was a sham.

With the visa money wasted, Govindan Kutty plans to launch a new business using whatever funds remain. Sivaraman refuses to take the tainted money, causing a rift between them. Govindan Kutty departs with the remaining cash, leaving Sivaraman behind.

Pothuval and Radhika inform Thampuran that the real Kunjunni died in a construction-site accident in America. Radhika reveals she is Revathy, Kunjunni's lover, who initially came to reveal the truth but stayed for the family’s happiness. The emotional twist reshapes the narrative’s moral landscape.

Sivaraman returns to confess all his actions to Thampuran, who asks him to continue the drama in front of Sethu to spare her from shock. Sethu calls for Kunjunni but there is no reply. Govindan Kutty returns in remorse, and Thampuran forgives them.

Thomas and Tyootty start a new humbug; Nambeeshan returns to farming and his ex-wife remarries. Pothuval starts an anti-alcohol society, and Elina's future remains unknown. The film closes on a note of personal reckonings and frayed ambitions.
