Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead

Melissa Scott and fiancé Bobby Lawrence begin a cross-country drive to Las Vegas to get married. Kayla, Melissa's sister, joins with her online boyfriend Nik for the ride. The group is in high spirits as they travel, unaware of the danger ahead.

The car stalls in the desert, forcing them to search for help. They discover a seemingly abandoned barn containing a silver 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle in working order with a full tank. Against their better judgment, they steal the car, and Melissa leaves a note with her contact info for the owner.

Melissa receives a phone call the next day from Rusty Nail, who refers to her as Goldilocks and reveals that he can see them. Bobby disappears from a diner restroom, signaling that the hunter has him in his sights. The threat feels personal and immediate for the group.

The four discover a CB radio in the car, through which Rusty Nail orders them to destroy their cellphones and obey his commands if Bobby is to survive. They realize defying him could have deadly consequences. The tension tightens as the hunter asserts control over their fate.

They drive to a mortuary hospital where Kayla cuts off a finger from a corpse to prove their compliance with Rusty's game. Rusty confirms that more consequences will follow if they do not toe the line. He later extracts Bobby's finger and places it in the glove compartment.

Rusty pulls up at a bar in Utah, and Bobby tries to escape. A bartender notices and attempts to help, but Rusty kills him before taking Bobby for himself. The peril escalates as the chase intensifies.

Nik is kidnapped by Rusty, prompting Melissa and Kayla to pursue in the Chevelle. Rusty rams the car repeatedly, flipping the Chevelle over. The tense chase tests the group's resolve.

Rusty rams the Chevelle again, trapping Kayla and killing her as the car is pummeled. Melissa narrowly escapes the wreckage in the surrounding chaos. The loss deepens the group's resolve to outsmart Rusty and save Bobby and Nik.

Rusty takes Bobby and Nik back to his home and tortures them. Nik is killed when Rusty impales him with a steel rod through the head. The remaining captives face a grim fate as the hunter tightens his grip.

Melissa breaks into a police station and steals a motorcycle, using it to pursue Rusty more effectively. She tracks him down and prepares for a confrontation, hoping to turn the tables on his game. The plan hinges on catching him off guard and ending the nightmare.

Melissa locates Rusty and uses a motorcycle as a distraction, then ambushes him with a shovel. She overpowers him and steals his truck, freeing Bobby who is trapped in the trailer. The chase reaches a high-stakes climax as they fight for survival.

The trailer disconnects, leaving Bobby behind as Rusty clings to the side of the truck. Melissa jumps out just before the truck goes off a cliff and explodes. Bobby escapes the trailer and reunites with Melissa.

In the aftermath, Rusty is revealed to have miraculously survived the explosion when he helps a stranded girl with a broken-down car. The hunter remains at large, suggesting that the terror could resume. The survivors carry the memory of the ordeal as a warning.
