Miss Duan uses a specialized technique to capture demons by turning them into powerless puppets rather than killing them. This method allows her to control and contain the demons, which aligns with her practical approach to demon hunting. The puppets can later be used or released as needed, making them a versatile tool for a demon hunter.

This technique becomes crucial when the puppets are used to pass through danger later in the story.

The Monkey King, imprisoned for five hundred years beneath a lotus garden, persuades Sanzang to release him by claiming he wants to help subdue the pig demon.
