Parag Dixit lives a contented life with his girlfriend, Mansi. The peace of their days is shattered when he is falsely implicated in a drug case, a setup orchestrated by his own acquaintance, Keshav Rathod. The allegations place him under a cloud of suspicion: he is arrested in Bandra for firing at a police officer and for possession of narcotics, while his so-called associate, Keshav Rathod, ends up gravely injured and hospitalized in critical condition. The weight of the accusation is compounded by the harsh, overcrowded reality of his new home: a jail barrack where space is scarce, and the atmosphere is heavy with fear, rumor, and the constant sting of confinement.

Inside the jail, the daily grind changes from mere waiting to a mental endurance test. Parag endures a relentless routine of pressure, isolation, and the claustrophobic ambience of a facility that seems designed to wear down anyone who crosses its path. He clings to the slim thread of hope offered by his advocate, Harish Bhatia, who represents him at a preliminary hearing. Yet the judge refuses bail, leaving Parag to grapple with an increasingly tenuous grip on his freedom. As months pass, a tragedy unfolds: Keshav dies in the hospital, sealing Parag’s fate with a cloud of guilt that isn’t his to bear.

In the tangled web of the jail’s social hierarchy, Parag forms uneasy alliances. He befriends Nawab, a figure who offers a measure of sympathy and understanding in a place designed to erode empathy. He also encounters Ghani, who becomes the henchman of Baba Bhai and navigates life on bail, only to be shattered by sorrow when he learns that his wife has remarried, driving him to take his own life. The system’s corruption and danger are underscored when Galib escapes by bribing the police, and when Joe is released on bail only to celebrate by discarding his clothes, an act that provokes Parag into a brutal confrontation resulting in a punishment of solitary confinement.

Parag’s isolation is temporarily eased by the intervention of Nawab and Kabir, who helps arrange a hospital visit to see Mansi and Parag’s mother. Nawab, stern and wary, warns Parag to steer clear of gangsters—an admonition that carries the weight of hard-won experience. He reveals a brutal family history: his younger brother fell under a gangster’s influence and became involved in a murder; Nawab had no choice but to kill both his brother and the gangster to protect others. This confession casts a long shadow over Parag’s own choices and the path he is being urged to avoid.

Two years pass in a cycle of waiting and personal doubt. Parag is convicted and sentenced to ten years, with two already served, leaving eight in front of him. The weight of the sentence pushes him toward despair, and he contemplates suicide as a way out of a system he has lost faith in. He asks Kabir to bring Baba Bhai into the equation, offering any favor in exchange for a chance at release. A routine transfer to another jail looms, and with Baba Bhai’s help, Parag is moved to Nasik Jail, a change that promises a different set of challenges and opportunities.

The transfer, however, is not smooth. A corrupt officer places Parag into Kabir’s transport during the move. Kabir and his henchmen take advantage of this setup to cause an accident and escape, but Parag remains behind, a choice that Nawab learns of with mixed feelings of relief and concern. In Kolhapur Jail, Parag searches for a glimmer of hope amid the grim circumstances, a sign that life might still bend toward justice. The turning point arrives six months later when a new legal effort—led by Mansi hiring a fresh lawyer—proves Parag’s innocence beyond reasonable doubt.

Ultimately, Parag is acquitted, a moment that allows him to re-enter the world he had been forced to leave behind. In the aftermath, he and Mansi make a quiet visit to Nawab in jail, a poignant reminder of the ties that bind them all through a harsh, enduring ordeal. The story closes on a note of cautious relief, with the promise of a new chapter that rests on the hard lessons learned within the walls of the institutions that once controlled their fate.
