Amjad, Akshay Kumar, is an autorickshaw driver with a heart full of dreams. He longs to reunite with his long-lost brother Munna and to marry his beloved Heena. But Heena’s parents want a life of affluence for their daughter, so Amjad hatches a plan to win their trust by staging a harmless, fake drama with his friend Avinash, Tusshar Kapoor, and enlisting Inspector Ajit Rathod, Ajay Devgn, to arrest the pretend goons and, in the process, win Heena’s hand. The scheme starts as light-hearted deception, a test of love and loyalty, yet it quickly spirals when real criminals crash the show. Amjad fights them to shield Heena’s family, and his courage ultimately nudges Heena’s parents toward a wedding alliance with him.

Meanwhile, a parallel and tense thread unfolds around Inspector Ajit Rathod, a principled man haunted by the death of his wife and driven by a hard-edged resolve. He is determined to track down Azhar Khan / Munna, a notorious terrorist who has gone underground and who intends to unleash chaos on Mumbai to free his ally Masood. Azhar, Rahul Dev, is already plotting catastrophe while eluding the law, and Rathod’s pursuit becomes a personal, consuming mission.

On the personal front, Avinash, Tusshar Kapoor, a struggler aiming for stardom, loses his film job after a heated clash with a self-important actor. Into his life steps Indu, Laila, a newcomer he helps break into the industry, and the two soon fall in love. They grow closer even as Indu faces moral pressure from the producer, Agarwal, Vivek Vaswani, who attempts to compromise her. Despite the setbacks, Avinash remains hopeful, choosing to shift back to the street-driving trade rather than give up on his acting dream, while Indu encourages him to keep pursuing his craft. Their talent pays off when a filmmaker notices them and cast them as leads in his next project, a breakthrough that signals a new chapter in their lives.

Across the city, Meghna, Lara Dutta, a sharp and curious news reporter, begins to develop feelings for Rathod. Yet Rathod remains emotionally scarred by his past, his judgment tempered by grief even as professional duty calls him toward dangerous confrontations.

Azhar returns to town after a period of exile, with the same destructive motive in mind: to stage a bomb attack on a crowded train. He leaves a path of violence in his wake, including the murder of Rathod’s ally, Inspector Deepak, and he continues to evade capture. When Rathod finally uncovers the shocking truth—that Azhar is the same man as Munna, Amjad’s younger brother—he arrests Amjad to prevent further catastrophe. At Bandra Terminus, Azhar takes hostages and demands a helicopter to escape to Pakistan, threatening innocent lives in a high-stakes standoff.

Rathod approaches the perilous operation with resolve, while Amjad grapples with the revelation of his brother’s identity. Amjad pleads with Azhar to spare the innocent passengers, but Azhar refuses, branding his actions as jihad. A fierce firefight erupts at the station as Azhar’s men fall, and, in the midst of the chaos, Azhar and Masood are ultimately slain by Rathod and Amjad. In a quiet, heavy moment of aftermath, Rathod consoles Amjad, who refuses the pity and condemns the violence—arguing that anyone who kills innocents in the name of religion deserves no mercy. The story closes with Rathod, Amjad, Avinash, and the hostages walking away from the ambush, their lives forever altered by the tangled weave of loyalty, love, and justice.
