Incubus

Mandy Pullman and her boyfriend Roy swim at a lake in a rock quarry in rural Wisconsin. They end up spending the night camping when an unseen figure attacks them; Roy is killed and Mandy is raped. The violence and fear set the tone for a town already on edge.

Mandy is rushed to Galen Hospital with a ruptured uterus and serious trauma from the attack. Dr. Sam Cordell begins life-saving treatment as the community grapples with the crime. Her injuries foreshadow a pattern the town will struggle to understand.

Tim Galen experiences a recurring nightmare in which a woman is tortured by a monstrous figure. His grandmother Agatha tries to dissuade him from voicing his suspicions about the premonitions, hinting at a family legacy. The dreams plant a link between Tim and the town's terror.

At the hospital, Sheriff Hank Walden questions Sam about Mandy's injuries while Laura Kincaid, a local reporter, arrives to cover the case. Walden forces her to leave, signaling friction between law enforcement and the press. The encounter introduces the idea that information will travel quickly and with consequences.

That night, librarian Carolyn Davies is raped and murdered at the library and museum. During her autopsy, Sam notes injuries similar to Mandy's and finds an unusually large amount of semen in her vagina. The discoveries widen the scope of the investigation into a possible ritual or supernatural cause.

Sam shows Laura pictures of his deceased second wife and notes the uncanny resemblance to Mandy. He also takes a sample of Tim's semen to compare, hoping for a genetic link, though the results do not yet settle the question. The investigation threads new leads while fear continues to spread.

The following day, Ernie Barnes and his two daughters are brutally slain at their farmhouse, escalating the town's fear. That night, a young woman is raped and murdered in the downstairs bathroom of a local cinema, with the metal stall door nearly bent in half. The spree reinforces a pattern of violent, ritualized crimes.

Sheriff Walden and Sam arrive at the crime scenes ahead of Laura, who says she might help with the investigation. Laura reveals she has uncovered historical records detailing Satanism and similar crimes throughout the town's past. The past and present crimes begin to feel connected.

Tim confronts Jenny at her home, hysterical, insisting his dreams are connected to the murders. He pleads with her, revealing how the visions guide his fear and paranoia. The moment shows how close innocence sits to danger in Tim's mind.

Sam obtains a sample of Tim's semen for comparison with the victims, but it does not match Mandy's attacker. The mismatch rules out Tim as the killer and pushes the investigation toward a non-human agent. The DNA twist deepens the mystery.

Tim, Agatha, Sam, Jenny, and Laura gather at the library where Laura reads a passage about the incubus, a shapeshifter that manifests through dreams. Agatha explains Tim's family’s historical role as witch hunters and implies his dreams are rooted in a psychic legacy. The incubus concept gains credibility as a central threat.

Laura and Tim return with Sam and Jenny to their home; Tim experiences a seizure-like state as Sam attempts to induce his dream to prove the connection. Tim lunges at Laura with a dagger given by Agatha, and Sam intervenes by stabbing him to death. Laura's face briefly shifts into the monstrous incubus, revealing she has been the shapeshifter all along. As Sam consoles Laura, he glimpses Jenny's dead body lying on her bed, blood pouring from between her legs.
