In Your Dreams (2025) – Ending Explained & Final Scene Breakdown

Still thinking about how In Your Dreams (2025) ended? Here’s a full breakdown of the ending, key final moments, major twists, and the deeper meaning behind the film’s conclusion.

Stevie’s wish to keep her family together is granted by the mysterious Sandman book, but the magic is a trap. When she turns the hourglass and waits for the last grain of sand, she is pulled into a dream‑world where her parents never leave and everything seems perfect—except she has erased her brother, Elliot, from that reality. When Stevie finally awakens, Elliot is still there, but she remains asleep, stuck in the Sandman’s limbo.

Realizing that his sister’s life is fading, Elliot convinces their parents to join him in another sleep, hoping the love they share will pull Stevie back. In the dream they reunite, and Stevie, seeing Elliot again, admits that he makes her world brighter. Together they confront the Sandman, who reveals his true intention: to lock them in a never‑ending dream so they will never have to face the pain of change.

With the help of their quirky friend Baloney Tony and the quick thinking of their parents, the four of them manage to stop the last grain of sand from falling. They smash the hourglass, shattering the Sandman’s hold and waking up together. The family returns to the real world, where Stevie learns that no spell can control her parents’ choices—Mom will still move, Dad will still chase his music—but the bond between the siblings is now stronger than ever.

In the brief mid‑credits scene the Sandman book tumbles from the back of the family’s moving truck. It is found by the indifferent Joon‑Bae, who simply tosses it into the trash, hinting that the magical threat has been discarded… at least for now.
