The film kicks off on what seems to be the worst day of Ruth’s life, portrayed by Melanie Lynskey. Working as an assistant in a medical facility, she faces a series of unfortunate events: a patient unexpectedly dies, and upon returning home, she discovers not only a mess from a dog in her yard but also that her house has been burglarized.
