On the beautiful and mystical Easter Island, a young rabbit named E.B., who is destined to become the next Easter Bunny, finds himself grappling with the immense pressure of familial expectations. E.B., feeling overwhelmed by the responsibilities that await him as his father, Mr. Bunny, prepares to pass on the mantle, makes the bold decision to run away to Hollywood to chase his dream of becoming a drummer. In a twist of fate, Mr. Bunny sends his elite trio of ninja guards, known as the Pink Berets, to locate his rebellious son. Meanwhile, in a comical subplot, the Easter Chicks, Carlos and Phil, who serve as Mr. Bunny’s second-in-command at the Easter egg factory, conspire to overthrow him and seize control of the Easter operations.
In a parallel story, we meet Fred O’Hare, who lives in Hollywood with his family. Struggling to find his place as an adult, he is stuck living with his parents, who are becoming increasingly frustrated and plan an intervention to push him towards independence and employment. As fate would have it, E.B. encounters Fred when he is accidentally hit by him while driving. Fred, embroiled in his own life’s chaos, is on his way to house-sit for his sister, Sam. Seizing the opportunity and feigning injury, E.B. convinces Fred to take him in, claiming to be the legendary Easter Bunny. However, as E.B. becomes a source of disruption, Fred contemplates abandoning him in the wild.
Amidst this, E.B. manages to tap into Fred’s childhood memories, recalling an encounter with the Easter Bunny, which ultimately convinces Fred to help him, igniting a newfound belief in the magic of the Easter Bunny. As E.B. navigates his way through an audition for David Hasselhoff’s talent show, the Pink Berets are hot on their trail, closing in on E.B. During this comedic chase, E.B. unearths a hidden talent for performing and manages to charm Hasselhoff.
The adventure escalates as E.B. and Fred try to outsmart the Pink Berets. With a series of chaotic yet humorous events, Fred becomes inspired to take over the family tradition of being the Easter Bunny, and E.B. reluctantly agrees to train him, discovering some unexpected abilities within his human friend. As the story unfolds, comedic mishaps and misunderstandings lead to an explosive showdown between E.B., Fred, and the nefarious Carlos—who has ambitions of his own in the Easter hierarchy.
In a grand climax, with both Fred and Mr. Bunny facing peril, it takes teamwork, quick thinking, and a dose of Easter magic to restore order. E.B. realizes that he must put aside his self-indulgence to support his friends and family. With all conflicts resolved, E.B. and Fred find themselves stepping into their new roles as co-Easter Bunnies, embraced by their families and finally ready to take on their responsibilities. The film ends on a humorous note, with E.B. and Fred embarking on a new adventure delivering Easter baskets in China, bringing their heartfelt journey full circle.
