During a police investigation into her family's past, Detectives uncover a blood-soaked mattress linked to Kirsty's late father, Larry, and her stepmother, Julia. This gruesome evidence sparks Kirsty's urgency to incinerate the mattress to prevent further horrors.

Kirsty interacts with Tiffany, a young girl institutionalized for her puzzle-solving abilities. Their meeting sets the stage for a pivotal partnership as both girls navigate the terrifying undercurrents of the Channard Institute.
