Lazarus Fell, a former naval intelligence officer, discovers his mission was compromised by his own chain of command and chooses to strike out on his own. He fakes his own death, abandons his life and family, and vanishes to pursue the truth in solitude.

Lazarus is driven by the belief that his father, Solomon Fell, ONI Chief of Operations, was killed in the 9/11 attacks and that the event hides a deeper conspiracy. He pursues the world’s most wanted terrorist across continents, convinced the answers lie in shadowy networks tied to his family’s fate.

Over more than ten years, Lazarus wages a solitary global manhunt, moving through disguises, shadows, and red herrings. His relentless chase isolates him from his past life and pushes him toward a solitary crusade.

Lazarus finally corners his quarry in Vienna, where the terrorist has been living openly amid Western decadence. The city becomes the surreal backdrop against which the hunt reaches its climax.
