The German-Jewish philosopher Hannah Arendt flees Nazi Germany and finds refuge in America, where she works as a journalist and academic. In 1951, she becomes an American citizen. A decade later, she travels to Israel as a reporter for The New Yorker to cover the trial of SS officer Adolf Eichmann. Her observations and analysis of the proceedings are documented in her influential book, "Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil," which sparked considerable controversy and debate.
