Tim's father lends him the family’s brand new Cadillac for the senior prom with Bonnie Clark. While getting cozy by a stream, the parking brake fails, causing them to seek help from a local garage after the car rolls away.

At Cody's Speedway, Tim faces the wrath of Bonnie's father, Mr. Clark, leading to a physical confrontation. Fortunately, mechanic Mike Cody intervenes, showcasing her protective instincts.

Mike enlists the help of demolition derby driver Ernie 'Slam' Webster to tow Tim’s damaged Cadillac. Slam's mind is troubled as he is searching for his missing wife, Candy, while trying to assist Tim.
