Ari, a 27-year-old ambulance doctor from the City of Turku Fire Department, enjoys a lifestyle filled with casual encounters, purposely avoiding any emotional commitments. He firmly believes that commitment equates to pain, and he has no desire to cause anyone hurt. Yet, beneath this facade of contentment lies a troubling truth: he is completely numb to feelings.

This all changes when he meets Tiina on the beach, leading to an unexpected romance that sees them ultimately sharing Ari’s apartment. As their relationship develops, Tiina, who is falling in love, begins seeking a deeper connection, pushing the boundaries of their initial arrangement. She introduces Ari to her close-knit group of friends, which includes Ilona, Hanna-Riikka, and their partners, Stig and Riku.

Determined to make the most of their last carefree summer before diving into their careers, the group aims to indulge in fun and festivities. Ilona, who has been with Stig since their teenage years, feels the spark of excitement fade in their relationship and seeks to reignite it with new adventures. Meanwhile, Hanna-Riikka, a Lutheran priest, challenges Ari’s outlook on life, prompting him to confront the impact of his choices on their friendship circle.

As Ari grapples with his growing feelings for Hanna-Riikka and his emotional detachment, the dynamic between the friends shifts dramatically. What begins as camaraderie slowly morphs into resentment as Ari realizes he has inadvertently hurt those who genuinely care about him. With autumn’s arrival, the group embarks on a mission to mend their strained relationships, but the truth unveils itself at Stig’s and Ilona’s wedding.

Here, the fantasy collapses, and Ari undergoes a profound metamorphosis. In these pivotal moments, he discovers that he is finally able to feel something, a revelation that changes everything for him and his friends.
