Gintama: The Movie

On a bridge late at night, Kotaro Katsura is ambushed by a lone ronin. Elizabeth pleads with the Yorozuya to help locate him, drawing Shinpachi and Kagura into the search. Gintoki, meanwhile, takes on a separate assignment from Murata to retrieve the cursed Benizakura.

Nizo the Butcher confronts Shinpachi and Elizabeth, claiming Katsura is dead and showing proof of a hair he cut. Gintoki arrives to shield them, but the assassin and the Benizakura's power overwhelm him. Shinpachi fights back, slicing off one of Nizo's arms, forcing the attacker to retreat as onlookers gather.

Kagura, with her loyal Sadaharu, uncovers clues about Katsura's whereabouts on a ship owned by the Kiheitai. The Kiheitai are led by Shinsuke Takasugi, and Murata Tetsuya is revealed as an accomplice aiming to perfect Benizakura as a bioweapon. The stakes rise as the plan moves toward a bigger confrontation.

Shinpachi and Elizabeth coordinate a plan to strike the Kiheitai, leveraging Kagura's discoveries. Murata's machinations loom over the impending confrontation, suggesting a wider scheme behind Katsura's disappearance. The Yorozuya prepare for a bold assault.

Kagura, aided by Sadaharu, traces Katsura's location to the Kiheitai vessel and joins the plan. Shinpachi boards the Kiheitai ship to rescue Kagura, while Elizabeth coordinates the assault against the ship's crew. The operation tightens the alliance between Katsura's faction and the Yorozuya.

During the melee, Takasugi wounds Elizabeth, and Katsura, hidden aboard the ship in disguise as another Elizabeth, faces his former ally. The confrontation turns personal as loyalties blur amid the fighting.

Katsura detonates a factory, destroying all remaining Benizakura except for the blade Nizo holds. The blow marks a turning point, dramatically reducing the weapon's reach. Katsura pledges to confront Takasugi again.

With the Benizakura threat reduced, Katsura and his allies prepare to square off against the Kiheitai's core members, Matako Kijima and Henpeita Takechi. The upcoming clash is framed as a decisive moment in their war against Takasugi's faction.

Murata Tetsuko steps forward and provides Gintoki with a new sword of her own making to stand against Okada on the way to Kiheitai's ship. The gesture signals renewed confidence for the aging swordsman.

Gintoki endures the intensified, weapon-enhanced burst of Benizakura, testing his skills and memories. A line of memory stirs within him, hinting that long-guarded battles are awakening within.

Nizo is consumed by Benizakura and interrupts Shinpachi and Kagura's efforts to help Gintoki. The desperate moment underscores the weapon's dangerous curse.

Murata Tetsuko sacrifices to protect her brother; Gintoki, wielding Tetsuya's blade, delivers the final strike to end Nizo and destroy Benizakura. The climactic blow resolves the central crisis of the arc.

Takasugi unveils a broader vendetta to wipe out the Bakufu and reshape the world, allying with the Harusame space pirates. Kawakami Bansai joins the Kiheitai alliance, expanding the threat against Gintoki and Katsura.

The groups reunite and escape, vowing that the next encounter with Takasugi will be even more menacing and that there will be no mercy for their enemies. The battle lines are drawn for a larger conflict to come.

The film opens with a playful Yorozuya self-introduction and ends with a spoof about Warner Bros. casting, poking fun at the film industry. The gags frame the movie with humor and tease a potential sequel.
